New Forest wildfire: an update for anyone travelling here.

We are open as normal and have been unaffected by the wildfire. The Manor at Sway, is on the southern edge of the Forest, roughly 15 miles away from the fire site.

On Sunday evening, 9 August, a van caught fire on the A31 and the flames spread into the heathland beside the road. Our heartfelt thanks to the firefighters and everyone supporting them, including crews who have come from services across the country to help.

Sway, the south of the Forest, the coast at Milford and Keyhaven, Lymington, Brockenhurst and Beaulieu are all unaffected. The affected area is on the A31, in the north of the New Forest National Park, near Bratley Wood and Bolderwood.

Travelling by car: the A31 is closed in both directions between the M27 at Ower and the A338 at Ringwood, and is expected to stay shut until at least Thursday 20 August.

Trains to Sway are running normally.

Thing you can do to help, if you are travelling to the New Forest:
- No BBQs, campfires, stoves or any outdoor cooking equipment, anywhere in the National Park.
- No naked flames.
- Take your litter home, including glass.
- Carry water and stay hydrated.

If you see a fire, get somewhere safe and call 999. What3Words is the quickest way to give them an exact location.

Sway village has direct train links to London in under 90 minutes.
