Yes, you can walk there from the cottage: it's quite a long walk: don't ask me how long it takes because Maia is too old and creaky to do it now and I can't remember how long it used to take when she could. If any of our followers know add it in the comments 🙂
Little secret: when we bought the cottage loads of people mentioned this lake but it took us about a year to find it 😆😆

If your dog (or cat, or any other animal) had a dating profile, what would their picture be?

The grass at Hendre Ddu is still green!
Actually it could have done with a mow but it was a same day changeover and I ran out of time 😆

I've been looking through the many holiday groups on FB, trying to work out how to make it show me posts in order rather that what it thinks are 'highlights'.
Anyway, giving up with that, it seems I can do it on my phone but not my laptop and being of a certain age my phone is much too tiny to be scrolling looking through the groups for people who might have posted wanting a holiday in Snowdonia on a date we have available. Bit of a pain, that.
Anyway, my point is, I'm quite shocked by how many property adverts are using AI enhanced images of their places.
So I just wanted to say again, that with us, what you see is what you get. We never enhance our photos or vids, we keep it real.
And here is a photo of a very beautiful and glamourous recent guest in the cottage garden, who needs no enhancement

It's official all of Wales is in drought status. Never thought I'd see the day.
Hendre Ddu, like many rural places in Wales, is on a private stream fed supply so we are asking guests to use as little water as possible.
We don't allow outside fires of any kind because of our remote location in a forest, but this is even more important than ever now.

A new video showing all of the grounds at Hendre Ddu Cottage. As you can see we have woodland, lots of mature trees and some grassy areas too as well as our lovely deck which is everyone's favourite place to sit. It is all fenced: some solid fences the rest is wire stock fence lined with chicken wire. Any questions please ask.

There hasn't been much news coverage but there are currently several serious ongoing fires in the Welsh countryside. One in the Rhinogydd near Harlech has been burning for nearly a week now, it's a beautiful, very wild area and it's incredibly sad. At least one was started by a gas camping stove. This is exactly why we don't provide or allow fire pits, barbeques or anything outside fire related at the cottage.
In these extremely dry conditions we'd also urge everyone to be really careful with ci******es, vapes and of course never leave litter.. and if you want to go a step further; if you see any, pick it up especially glass bottles which can also start fires.
Diolch 🙏🏻

Every year fire is responsible for the destruction of thousands of hectares of countryside, open space, and wildlife habitats.
Many of these fires are preventable and caused by our behaviour.
Help stop wildfires.
