The Mens Shed Flying machine
The saws have fallen silent at the Caerau Men’s Shed,
The hammers are resting, the blueprints are read.
With splinters and sweat and a standard to hold,
They’ve built a speed machine, brilliant and bold.
She’s painted in crimson and emerald green,
The slickest soapbox that the valley has seen.
No engine, no motor—just gravity’s grace,
And the heart of the Shed for the Blaen Caerau race.
Tomorrow at noon, down the hill she will go,
With the Blaencaerau crowds all packed in a row.
From Brewers Field down, hear the thunder and cheer,
As the red and green Gambo shifts into top gear!
The wheels might be wobbly, the steering is tight,
But the spirit of Caerau is flying tonight.
Hold onto your helmets, give roaring applause,
For the boys from the Shed and their magnificent cause!
