CalMac winter timetable | From 19 October

From 19 October, the Small Isles move onto the winter ferry timetable. 
The islands are still here to be explored beyond the summer season, but winter visits can look a little different. Ferry sailings change, daylight hours are shorter and individual businesses may operate reduced hours or close for the season. A little planning ahead can help you make the most of your time on the islands.
A few tips:
Check the winter timetable and book your ferry in advance.  
Check opening dates directly with accommodation providers, cafés and other local businesses.
Think ahead about food and supplies, checking what will be available locally and what you may need to bring with you.
Pack for the conditions, with suitable waterproofs, warm layers and footwear for exploring outdoors.
Keep an eye on the weather and allow some flexibility in your plans as conditions can affect ferry services.
Make the most of the daylight. Shorter days mean it’s worth thinking about timings for walks and other outdoor activities.
Make sure you have suitable travel insurance. If a ferry sailing is cancelled, you may need to stay longer than planned or make alternative travel arrangements. Check that your policy covers ferry disruption and any additional accommodation or travel costs, as cover varies between policies.
