We are opening the garden for charity on Sunday and Monday, from 11am till 5pm.

We have been opening under the National Garden Scheme since 2016, raising over £14,000 for nursing and healthcare charities. During that time we've revived this 2 acre wooded hillside garden, including adding tree carvings and a model garden railway - there will be trains running (weather permitting).

If you would like parking you need to book online using the NGS website https://findagarden.ngs.org.uk/garden/32934/the-dell-house - this is because we only have a small car park and there is limited street parking nearby.

If you live too far away to visit for the day, we've got a few self catering vacancies coming up, and in the summer. See https://www.thedellhouse.co.uk/diary.html for details of what's available when.

It's an amazing year for bluebells. They are everywhere, but particularly special are those on the other side of the hill from here. There are a few orchids around too.

If you fancy a short notice break, we've got a few self catering vacancies, see https://www.thedellhouse.co.uk/diary.html for details of what's available when.

We are hosting a lovely gaming group here for an extended weekend. It's a booking that started with the organiser's 40th birthday a few years ago and has turned into a regular annual gathering.

Each year they've given us a surprise gift in thanks. To date it's been a game but they too are recognising that the shelves are full, and this year one of the group has made a game-themed plate for us - complete with Carcassonne biscuits!

Gifts are nice but personally made gifts are particularly special.

We're having an open Garden on Sunday.

We have primroses.

And cake.

As part of the National Garden Scheme, raising money for charity, we're doing a short notice opening on Sunday from 2pm to 5pm.

If you need to bring a car you must pre-book online in order to have a parking space, as parking is very limited. See https://ngs.org.uk/gardens/the-dell-house-wr1/ to pre-book, or for more details.

£5 entry.

(As this is short notice, it's unlikely that the model railway will be running this time, as track maintenance is needed first...)

We're enjoying the garden coming back into life, from the blossom and daffodils, to seeing the wildlife return. Mostly we're enjoying it not raining all the time!

Guests this week have been enjoying walking the hills in the sunshine. They'd made good use of our current 20% Off offer on self-catering.

Our final run (for a few years) of the "Resort to Murder" Murder Mystery plot by Death on Demand was a private one celebrating a significant birthday.

Set in the 1970s, the plot is actually based on the real history of the Dell House as the "Lucidor House Of Healing" in the 1950s.

The guests' outfits were spectacularly colourful. To be different, one guest had noted that Alien came out in 1979, and came as Ripley!

"Brilliant weekend Murder Mystery, beautiful house and fantastic hospitality. Will be back for another. Thank you!"

The next plot is a re-run of "Sting in the Tale" - a mix of modern day and steampunk and a great opportunity to have fun dressing up. Our June run is fully booked. We are now taking bookings for the 4th-6th September performance.

We have a few dates reserved for other private weekend MM's later in the year. Get in contact if you might like one of those!

Great fun was had at this weekend's Murder Mystery (our 18th murder mystery!) set in a 'healing resort' in 1975.

A great mix of guests, some who have enjoyed our other two plots (a lot of our murder mystery guests are returners), and those for whom it was their first experience. Some great costumes came out over the weekend!

"Entertaining, absorbing and fun weekend"

In a fortnight's time we have another run of the same plot, this time a private birthday celebration weekend.

Our next public one in June is fully booked, but we've just opened bookings for one in September (4th-6th). A different plot, "Sting in the Tale", set in the modern day with a Steampunk murder mystery within it.

We've also got some dates set aside in October with Death on Demand for more private bookings (for 8 to 14 guests).

Snowdrops!

Back in 2019 we (well, mainly Elizabeth) planted something like 700 snowdrop bulbs. In two acres that actually isn't very many. I suspect many have been consumed by local wildlife but it's nice to see some areas bulking up now.

The house was full of song and laughter this weekend.

Very pleased to have welcomed yet another new group to the house. A brief period of sun had them in the garden after breakfast, but mostly they made the most of the great acoustics of the spacious lounges.

"Thank you! For your kindness & hospitality. Such a calming place."

"Natural Voice Network. West Mids Regional Group annual gathering. A fabulous weekend of harmony in a beautiful place!
