FlyRide has been such a special part of my journey, and I’m so grateful to every single person who supported it.⁣
⁣
What started as a passion project grew into something busier than I ever imagined, and with everything else on my plate, I can no longer give FlyRide the time and energy it truly deserves.⁣
⁣
This decision has been a long time coming, it took many months of mental battles on the right way to do this but closing down is the right thing for me personally. I need to give myself some me time & not work to max capacity. It wasn’t sustainable & I felt it.⁣

I’ve not ventured far. Some of you may know, I now work with Hays Travel as a personal travel consultant planning holidays every day, so making family travel easier is still something I’m so closely linked to.⁣

How FlyRide Started...⁣
⁣
I had 2 year old twins, almost 3 & we were due to go on a family holiday to Fuerteventura.⁣
The compromise of the holiday was the flight times...⁣
⁣
We’d taken a double umbrella stroller the year before but as we weren’t due to land until 2000⁣
outbound & on inbound we wanted to be able to put the girls in a stroller for the long airport queues/walks especially. when theyd be sleepy.⁣
⁣
We barely used a pram at home anymore so I didn’t want to buy cabin sized strollers just for one holiday.⁣
I looked into rentals...⁣
⁣
There wasn’t much available or that allowed me to book for the dates I need, in advance.⁣
My husband encouraged me to solve the problem & offer others what we needed but couldn’t find.⁣
⁣
FlyRide was born & a few months later we took some of the strollers on our own holiday.⁣
It was game changing!⁣
⁣
Although we knew we’d booked late flights, our scenario got worse when we were several hours delayed each way, not arriving back in the UK until 0300!⁣
The strollers were 100% a necessity!⁣
⁣

What is tourist tax?⁣ 💴
It’s a small fee paid locally, usually at check in or check out of accommodation to help support local tourism services.⁣
⁣
Do UK travellers have to pay?⁣
Yes! Tourist taxes apply to everyone, regardless of where you’re from.⁣
⁣
How much is it?⁣
It varies by country & accommodation type. Usually €1-4 per adult, per night. Kids are often free!⁣
⁣
Examples by country:⁣
🇪🇸 Spain - €0.50-4⁣
🇬🇷 Greece - €0.50-4⁣
🇮🇹 Italy - €2-7⁣
🇫🇷 France - €0.20-4⁣
🇵🇹 Portugal - €2⁣

✈️ Think airlines ‘have to’ sit you next to your child? Think again!… 👶🏼 ⁣

Firstly, let me say...⁣
❌ No, I don’t agree with the charges but they’re a great way to save money if you don’t need to be sat together.⁣
⁣
Yes all airlines say they ‘strive’ to seat your family together but they’re also at the mercy of those who do pay to pre-book their seats & do so at the time of booking ✅ ⁣
⁣
If all the Dave & Margaret’s have booked all the aisle seats so they can get to the loo easily that means your family are going to get the best of what’s left which isn’t together! 😳⁣
⁣
Each child will be sat as close to an accompanying adult as possible but this doesn’t mean your entire family will be placed together. You might get lucky, you might not.⁣
⁣
On the whole these are the rules airlines will be using:⁣
⁣
2-7 years - in an adjacent seat but this could be two aisle seats. Would you or your child be happy with this?⁣
⁣
8-11 years should be sat no more than 1 row away from an accompanying adult. This could be 2A & 3F. Would you or your child be happy with this?⁣
⁣
Once they hit 12, they’re considered an adult & can be sat at the opposite end to the plane with no rules to save you. Would you or your child be happy with this?⁣
⁣
If you leave it up to chance this may not get resolved until you get onto the plane & you’re relying on Dave & Margaret to take pity on you & give up their quick escape. 🧑‍⚖️ ⁣

I also work as cabin crew & trust me there are many Dave & Margaret’s that won’t give up their seats for you because they have paid for the 💺 that work for them & that is ok for them to do. (Sorry no disrespect to any Dave & Margaret’s, not saying this is what they’re like, they’re just the first names that popped into my head)⁣

It’s a lot of money. I get it.⁣
However, I will ALWAYS pay to pre-book my seats at the time of booking to know we’re together. (This way the cost goes onto the balance of the holiday & isn’t a one off immediate payment.)⁣

Hey everyone, how was your weekend?

We’re in half term swing over here. It’s bittersweet, as much as I look forward to more time with the girls I’m a mental mess by the end of it. Can you relate?

We’ve got some intensive swim lessons each day in preparation for our next holiday. We still have stage school one evening as this runs through the hols & the girls are spending a couple of days with their grandparents who’ve been away for the last 5 weeks visiting family. The girls have missed them so much. I’m going to take the opportunity to head down south to catch up with my cousins & meet the newest 👶🏼 arrival 🥰

You know me, if I’m free, I’ll get back to you in no time. With the kids off this week, please bear with me as things might be a little slower but you will get a reply as soon as possible.

📢 Taking a cruise? Think your big pram will be fine? Think again!⁣

We had the freedom to bring our usual pram, but we quickly realised… 🚨⁣

❌ Cruise cabins are tiny!⁣
🚪 Our big pram wouldn’t fit through the door.⁣
😵 We’d have to fold it every time we entered the room!⁣
⁣
