A few days ago, we joined our fellow campsite owners in the local area by banning bbqs and flamed ovens on site due to increased risk of fires, after 2 massive wildfires in the local area within 12 hours of each other. One resulted in a holiday park being totally evacuated.

We are grateful to the government for now officially enforcing this with the national alert issued on 14th August. It’s just not worth the risk.
Our thoughts are with the residents of Stourbridge.

Thank you to our lovely customers who are always supportive and understanding 🕊️

Well, it’s official. Also, scared the living daylights out of us all! But it did the job it was supposed to do I guess!

Blimey did you hear that just now 🤣

Millions of people across England and Wales are receiving an emergency alert on their phones, warning against lighting anything that could spark a wildfire, including barbecues, campfires, and fireworks, the Cabinet Office said.

It comes as Andy Burnham has called in the military, announced a ban on disposable barbecues and warned smokers not to risk setting light to “tinderbox” Britain as he scrambled to respond to the summer heatwave and wildfires.

The Prime Minister also revealed he planned to commission firefighting planes, as used to douse flames in Europe and the US, to combat the spread of wildfires.

After relentless months of dry weather and now 2 massive wildfires within 12 hours, we are making the decision to ban all naked flames on site.
We hope all of our customers will be understanding of this decision - the risk now is just too high.

We already do not allow campfires or fires pits but this now extends to:
🔥coal bbqs
🔥disposable bbqs
🔥wood burning ovens
🔥any method that entails lighting a flame

Gas bbqs are still allowed but please be extra vigilant and make sure hot grills are kept away from the grass and have a methods of extinguishing the unit close to hand.

Thank you for your support and please don’t hesitate to check with us if you have any worry’s or concerns

Upon arrival we orientated guests to site so please make sure you know where to find the fire equipment, alert systems, and fire assembly point.

Our warm, dry conditions are set to continue after a potential rain shower or two! We're still advising our residents and visitors:

✅ Avoid barbecues and bonfires
✅ Extinguish ci******es completely and dispose of safely
✅ Pack a picnic or pasty instead
✅ Take your rubbish home

🚨🙏 In light of the good weather forecast and a hosepipe ban across Cornwall, we're asking our residents and visitors to be extra vigilant:

✅ Avoid barbecues or lighting fires of any kind, especially in or near areas that are already dry
✅ Always ensure that when discarding ci******es they are completely extinguished
✅ Pack a picnic or better still, grab a pasty from your local baker!

Big love and massive respect to our friends over the fields at Trevedra who have been tasked with dealing with a wild fire. 🔥 a reminder to all how dry the bracken and grasses are and how quickly wild fires can spread.

We’d like to firstly give our thanks to the local fire services that have been dealing with the wildfire, they’ve worked day and night over the last few days to protect everyone and contain the fire. We would also like to thank our guests for their patience and cooperation during this time. Although it was acres away from Trevedra and it was monitored around the clock, it is evidence of why we have specific pitching instructions and how important it is that we remind you that camp fires are not permitted on site. BBQ’s with charcoal only, are to be raised off the ground, with a bucket of water at hand. Although we’re all enjoying the heatwave, the ground is very dry and the public are advised to be especially vigilant.

Changes to Parking for St Michael’s Mount

From the week commencing 11 May, parking at St Michael’s Mount will be even easier when a new Pay at the End of Your Stay system will be installed across the Long and Short Stay visitor car parks.

The main visitor parking area is the St Michael’s Mount & Long Stay Marazion Car Park (also known as Follyfield Car Park). This is an ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) car park, meaning you can relax and enjoy your visit before paying by cash, card, phone or app when you return.

Please check the signage when you arrive for full details, or speak to one of the car park attendants who will be happy to help.
