Hello Everyone

I have a little question for you…

When you arrive somewhere for a few nights away, what little welcome touches do you like to see.

At Slowhayes Nature Retreat, I love guests arriving to find a few thoughtful goodies waiting for them — but I’d really love to know what you actually enjoy finding when you go away.

Fresh milk in the fridge?
A lovely loaf of bread and butter?
A delicious cake?
Biscuits or something sweet?
Good tea and coffee?
A nice local soft drink?

Or perhaps there’s something completely different that makes you think, “Oh, that’s a lovely touch!”

So, if you could choose your perfect little welcome hamper, what would be in it?

I’d love to hear your ideas in the comments.

As the summer evenings begin to cool and there’s a little freshness in the mornings, you can really feel that first hint of autumn in the air.

Have you booked your autumn break yet?

Wake up surrounded by nature, enjoy a slow morning with a hot drink, maybe see the alpacas and horses grazing, simply switch off from the outside world.

What’s your favourite food to take on a picnic?

With these lovely warm evenings, it’s the perfect time to enjoy a picnic.

As the evening cools, set out your picnic on the grass, I personally love to make up a salad, some wraps, a few tasty nibbles and a chilled bottle of something nice.

With the ground being so dry at the moment, a picnic is also a much safer alternative to having a BBQ or lighting a fire.

There’s something quite special about eating outside in the evening, breathing in the fresh air, listening to the sounds of the countryside and watching the sun go down.

The festoon lights and a lantern can make a cosy atmosphere too.

Picnics can be as adventurous as you like so what's your favourite food to pack?

There is nothing like an evening dip in the sea and then back home for a hot chocolate. I went to the beach to enjoy a dip and it was so refreshing. It's starting to get a little chilly in the evenings now, perfect time to light the woodburner or sit outside and light the firepit.

Our lovely shepherd's hut is perfect for all year round stays, with a lovely woodburner, electric radiator and a hot shower.

Cosy pubs nearby or stay in and enjoy a hot chocolate.

Anyone else enjoy an evening dip in the sea or wild swimming?

Hello everyone, as many of you may know, I’ve only been welcoming guests to our shepherd’s hut since April and this is a brand new venture for me. It's been really lovely to welcome so many lovely guests here and hearing that they’ve enjoyed the peace, nature and wildlife here at Slowhayes Nature Retreat has been incredibly rewarding.

As a small independent business, reviews really do make a difference. If you’ve stayed with us and enjoyed your visit, I’d be so grateful if you could leave a review on the platform you booked through or here on facebook. Your kind words help future guests discover us and really helps me.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me so far – whether you’ve stayed here, recommended us to friends, or even commented on my posts can really help my page to be seen, or simply followed our journey. It really does mean a lot and I can’t wait to welcome many more guests in the months ahead.

Thank you so much

Good morning everyone, last night I went to the beach, Lepe and Calshot are just a 15 minute drive from Slowhayes Nature Retreat, you can even pick up some fish and chips along the way and enjoy them on the beach. Last night was the Buck Moon and I managed to take a couple of nice photos . It was so beautiful there.

Buck Moon Meaning

During the month of July, male deer (bucks) have new antlers pushing out of their foreheads with coatings of velvety fur.

Deer lose their antlers yearly, and each part of the antler grows from time to time. In the midsummer, it reaches its full size with pointed tips and is considered to be a significant part of the annual cycle.

Did anyone else see the moon last night? Would love to see any photos you took?

Hello everyone, I thought I would introduce myself and our shepherd's hut. I'm Linda and I look after and host our lovely shepherd's hut here at Slowhayes Nature Retreat. We are located in the New Forest close to Beaulieu, Lyndhurst and Lepe Beach, all just a short drive away. Our spacious shepherd's hut is suitable for a maximum of 2 adults and has a king- size bed.

It's a peaceful place here, surrounded by nature and wildlife. In the summer you may see the buzzards circling above calling and the swallows swooping as you wake to the sound of birdsong. As the evening falls you may see deer, barn owls, bats and hear the peaceful sounds of nature.

Our horses peacefully graze in the fields which you can see from your window. We also have alpacas and sheep who you may also see happily grazing away.

The New Forest has some great cycling and walking routes where you are likely to see wild, free roaming ponies, donkeys and cows as you explore the New Forest.

We are suitable for all year round stays as the Shepherd's hut is fully insulated, has a cosy wood burner, electric radiator, a heated towel rail and of course a lovely hot shower.

With cosy pubs with log fires in the winter and nearby Lymington, there is always plenty to do nearby if you choose.

At the end of your day exploring nearby villages or taking it easy in nearby cafes and tearooms, walking or cycling, come back to the shepherd's hut to relax with a fire pit where you can toast marshmallows or just warm up and listen to the sounds of nature as you gaze at the stars .

The beauty of this place is you can be as chilled and relaxed as you want to be in a peaceful setting, or if you want to book an activity such as Kayaking or a trip to the Beaulieu National Motor Museum you are not far away.

I like to spend my time visiting local areas and businesses so I am able to recommend places for you to visit and enjoy during your stay, so keep an eye on my posts and let me know if you like what you see.

Have a look on the website for more photos and details and you can also see some reviews that guests have left in our guest book, please do message me for more details or if you have any questions.

I can't wait for you to come and stay.
