Early mornings by the river.

From 16 June to 14 March, guests staying with us are welcome to spend quiet hours fishing along the River Tern, where it gently meets our 7-acre lake.

A peaceful corner of the estate, the lake is a haven for wildlife. Kingfishers flash across the water, herons and egrets wade along the banks, and sandpipers and geese gather along the shoreline. Beneath the surface you’ll find wild brown trout, chub, roach, perch, gudgeon and rudd.

A place to slow down, cast a line, and enjoy the quiet rhythm of the countryside.

Guests wishing to fish must hold a valid Environment Agency rod licence and follow UK fishing laws and seasonal regulations.

During your stay you’ll have 64 acres of private estate grounds to explore together from peaceful lake walks and woodland gardens to the beautiful sunken garden and historic walled garden.

There are also plenty of dog-friendly off-lead areas, so your four-legged companion can roam freely.

After a day of exploring, return to one of our dog-friendly cottages:

• Pheasant Cottage – sleeps 4, welcomes 1 dog, with hot tub & cosy log burner

• Hare Cottage – sleeps 5, welcomes up to 2 dogs, with hot tub & log burner
