We may not have the icecream van this Saturday but The Choowee Cookie Company are just down the drive and are worth a visit 😍

You meet them on the Friday.

By Saturday lunchtime you know their grandchildren's names, where they got the awning, and exactly what went wrong on the A1 near Scotch Corner.

The chairs have somehow drifted into a single shared semicircle. There's a bottle of something out that nobody planned to open. Someone's fetched the good biscuits.

You are, by any reasonable measure, old friends.

You will never learn their surname.

On Sunday one of you hitches up first. There's a wave. A "safe travels." A handshake that's a touch too firm, from a man you'd happily have gone on holiday with.

And then they're gone. Brian and Sue. Or Dave and Carol. You're not entirely sure any more.

You never swapped numbers. You never will.

But every now and then, pitching up somewhere new, you catch yourself wondering how they got on.

Cracking site for the races or just a quiet stay. Facilities lovely & clean, a few essentials for sale in the office (ice 👍) smashing warden & always greeted with a smile & any information. If I’ve got to pick something I’d say a couple of the showers are small, but I just wait for the bigger cubicle, that’s how the building is not the sites fault. I look forward to my next visit.
