As we prepare to close the doors of Glendon Bed & Breakfast on 6 December, we’ve found ourselves reflecting on the many years we’ve spent welcoming guests to this beautiful Victorian home in Matlock. Glendon has been more than a place to stay — it has been a space filled with warmth, conversations, celebrations, and the quiet joy of helping people feel at home.
Over the years, we’ve shared breakfasts with travellers from all over the world, welcomed guests returning year after year, and watched friendships form around the dining table. We’ve loved every moment — the early morning chats, the laughter drifting from the lounge, the stories shared over coffee, and the privilege of being part of so many special occasions.
Now, with just a few weeks left, we want to offer something simple and sincere:
If you’ve ever thought about staying at Glendon — or hoped to return one day — this is your last chance.
There are still dates available in November and the first days of December before we close, and we would be truly delighted to welcome you for one final stay. Late autumn in Matlock is beautiful: crisp air, golden leaves, cosy cafés, festive lights beginning to appear, and peaceful walks right from the doorstep. It’s the perfect moment for a quiet escape, a celebration, or simply time away before the year ends.
Whether you’ve stayed with us before or are considering your first visit, we’d love to share Glendon with you one more time. These final stays mean a great deal to us, and we hope they’ll become cherished memories for you too.
