"Best steak in the world!
Service before arriving was really helpful to reserve the right room, which was smart and comfortable. The garden at the back was lovely in the sunshine. We ate in the bar brasserie and the food was absolutely outstanding! One of the best meals we have ever had. The steak was simply sublime, best ever,and I’ve tried lots of posh steak restaurants around the world. We welcome many cyclists who stay with us or stop for a meal, and we regularly receive excellent feedback about the trails and routes they have enjoyed throughout the region.

As locals, it is easy to take these routes for granted, and many of us may not even realise they are there. Fortunately, our visitors do—and their experiences are encouraging more people to come and explore the area, before returning to discover even more of what it has to offer.

"Up There with the Best
One word sums up our 3-night stay - 'outstanding'. We had a spacious, comfortable and clean room with great shower. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was the most delicious we have eaten at an hotel or restaurant in recent years. Well done, Chef and the rest of the staff who made our stay so enjoyable."

"Splendid relaxing stay
Stylish, welcoming and relaxing - Burt's reputation as a welcoming hotel with excellent food stretches way beyond the Border area. We had called in for drinks and lunch some time ago when in Melrose, so were really looking forward to our stay. The managers/owners are very visible and they run a great hotel. As soon as you walk in you feel at home. We liked the stylish, traditional interior. The service team is first rate and the food is exceptionally good. Sadly we only had one night but will be back soon." August 2026
