Did you know that walking amongst trees or even just looking at them is proven to reduce the stress hormone cortisol! We all need more trees in our life!
We have so many beautiful trees around our holiday cottages it’s the perfect place to come and de-stress.
The huge mature trees are bursting with vibrant green colours just now as they come in to leaf and the apple blossom in our young orchard is in full bloom and looking so pretty.
When we planted the orchard my daughter asked if we could grow pineapples. I said I wasn’t sure that was possible in our climate but I’d see what I could do. A quick chat with a local nursery and I found an old apple variety called pine-apple! Now Ruby loves to tell everyone we grow pineapples!

We are missing our lovely guests, hope everyone is keeping well and we are looking forward to welcoming you back soon😊

Around the base of the Eildon Hills in the Scottish Borders there are several ancient springs and wells which were dedicated to Christian Saints as holy wells around the 5th century.
St Mary’s Well is right next to our holiday cottages on the north side and the Malthouse Burn flows past on the south side. The burn flows from Bowden Loch next to the Mid Hill and in periods of heavy rainfall it turns in to a raging torrent of whitewater, as you can see in the video taken this morning!
Over thousands of years this tiny burn has carved a deep ravine or ‘dingle’ which is where our address, Dingleton Mains, come from.
If you can brave the weather this is a great time to get out and find the ancient springs and wells surrounding the Eildon Hills as the high water table makes them visible on the surface as water literally flowing out of the ground. There’s always lots to discover around the Eildon Hills whatever the weather, you’ve just got to get stuck in and get out there!
