From this…to this!!

A truly unique project for us. Ein Trysor Cudd and Floras Cabin going up in January 2020…just about the same time as Covid arrived 🥹 - nothing like a global pandemic to make you wonder if you really did the right thing this time!

Thankfully we did! We had some fantastic help from great friends and some brilliant contractors.

The memory of Dougie digging a trough, through the smallest of spaces, using a spoon, in the hailstones and snow is probably up there with one of the lowest points where we though WTF are we doing this 😅…but perseverance, hard work and a little bit of luck got us to where we are today.

A firm favourite with couples seeking an original, romantic getaway or Mums and Daughters for a girls night, newly weds, wedding proposals, tiny wee babies, solo travellers and dogs….lots of dogs! 🐶🐕

I’m so glad that Doug stuck with digging that trough after I stood behind him and offered words of encouragement shouting “keep swimming Scotty”🤣! He did it with such good grace and humour too ha ha NOT!

We love the cabins - come see what you think!

Sometimes we’re so busy pushing along for the next task we miss how far we’ve come.
Popped to The Croft this evening to hang a couple of pictures and replace some blown lightbulbs and could quite easily have lit the fire and stayed there the night - but there was no wine so I had to come home 😉..
Once we launch a new home, it’s Jodie and her team that go back regularly not me, tonight made me smile and proud that my team look after the place like their own 🥰🥰

So this is the main man at The Pencerrig Collection - Dougie..in fact, to date - the only man 😃.

He can be found doing the finances, chopping wood, unblocking saniflows or chatting to guests with a genuine enthusiasm and love for our business.

After starting his working life as a Plant fitter in Scotland, spent a year in Australia with friends and spent many years in Sales within the Access Industry before making his own leap of faith to become the first full time employee at The Pencerrig Collection.

This very proud Scotsman, Dougie has made Wales his home for the last 14 years and sincerely believes he sounds the same as his Welsh friends - sometimes very confusing for our guests! 😂

A dad to two sons, step-dad to three, hard worker, great host and proud business owner - this is our Combie ❤️
