Shoot Report
7th June 2026
The weather was once again kind to us, overcast with a slight wind which would pick up now and again. Turnout was down from the normal amount of shooters, there must have been other attractions happening today. Darren had set up what he would call a technical shoot in other words you had to make sure you got your pick up point and breaking point correct. Pick up point being very important, because as you’re able to see the traps here at LFCC many shooters will use it as their pick up position, in most cases this is wrong, if your hold position is on the trap the clay will have the jump on you, therefore you will end up playing catch up and end up miss reading the flight line and missing the target. Your pick up point (hold position) should be where you can physically see the clay not a blur, try it. As for today’s scores I was reliably informed by Graham.L it was a bit of a tricky shoot and the average score was around the mid 40s with the highest score being in the mid 50s but it was great fun trying to work out Darren’s technical targets. The club house for the first time in a long time was serving food and drinks, which was welcomed with open mouths, not when eating I hope. Big thanks to Simon.S for taking pic’s of you guy’s in action. Next shoot is on the 21st June, hope to see you all back here then.TC

LFCC Club House
It was the first time in a long time that the Club House served food. Jamie kept it simple, testing the water as it were to see what reaction she got. Not too bad considering attendance was down from the norm at the shoot itself plus the fact that a lot of folk are not aware we have a club house let alone that you can purchase food and drinks. Still, no complaints as people tucked into their bacon or sausage baps and washed it down with their chosen brew. Food stops being served at 10.30 (this is because Jamie and Tim are off to shoot a few clays). Drinks are available after 10.30 on a self-serve basis, and pay by using the honesty box and it was good to see folk had used it. Jamie hopes to widen the choice of what’s on the menu in the future. In the mean time, well done Jamie and Tim for getting it up and running again.

FOOD AND DRINK
LFCC Club House will be serving food and drinks as from the 7th June and on all shoot days after that. I know there are quite a few of you that didn’t realise we had a club house; it has not been used to its full advantage for a while, although it has been open but just providing teas and coffees. Well now it’s back thanks to Jamie and her other half Tim who have taken pity on all you hungry looking shooters. Food and drink (see menu below) will be served from 8.30 to 10.30. After 10.30 teas and coffees can be had, you just need to help yourselves and use the honesty box to pay. Come along, grab yourself a cup of tea and a bap, have a chat with like minded people, enjoy yourselves. See you on the 7th. TC

Shoot Report
24th May 2026
What a day - weather wise I mean, blue sky and the sun blazing down on us, temperature to bloody hot for me. Unfortunately it seemed it was too hot for quite a few members and guests as the attendance was down from the norm. I would imagine the bank holiday had something to do with it, with folk heading off to their favourite spot in the country, good luck to them. I didn’t get to check out the shoot this morning didn’t even get to speak to anyone about it after they had finished, by the time I had finished at the coaching area everyone had gone. As for pictures, my two favourite snappers also decided to have a long weekend break not together I might add. I did however manage to grab a few long range pics. Next shoot is on the 7th June, hope to see you all then, and hope that once again the sun shines down on us.TC
SAVE OUR CLAYS - THE COST OF CLAYS
Like Cartridges clays have gone up in price yet again! Darren is trying his best not to pass this increase onto members and guests but he could do with some help to keep the cost down. When you’re in a group you should all see a pair of clays together, not every single person that enters the shooting point (cage) need to see another pair (it’s in the club rules which are on the website and in the club house) this will significantly help to keep the cost down.
To give you an example:-72 bird shoot 9 stands; 2 shooters, first shooter sees a pair, second shooter enters the cage, he sees a pair, over the 9 stands that’s 18 wasted clays, you might say that doesn’t seem a lot. Put it this way, let’s say there were 40 shooters on the ground in groups of 2 and they all get to see a pair of clays that’s 162 clays wasted by the second shooter seeing a pair. That means there were enough clays wasted to accommodate two more shooters having a round that’s a loss of £40.00 to £50.00. Imagine if the groups were larger. I know that not everyone follows this habit but enough do, which will make it hard to keep the cost down. So if you are in groups of two or more then you should all view the targets at the same time, so you can all observe the flight lines. Thanks for your help in this matter.

Shoot Report
10th May 2026
A good turn out this morning despite the weather which wasn’t too bad, overcast with a cold wind. This is going to be a very short report as yet again I didn’t get a chance to check out the shoot for myself. Having a chat with some of the members after they had completed their fun morning of blasting clays out of the sky or trying to, there seemed to be quite a lot of shooters suffering from wind, it seems to be one of the favourite excuses for missing targets. It could not have been that bad, as when I checked out the score cards I did see I was impressed, 3 cards at 64 another one at 63 a couple more in the high 50s and one or two more in the high 40s, so not bad going, a quick mention for Adam as it was his first sporting shoot and after only one lesson he managed a score of 49, let’s see how you do next time. One thing I forgot to mention in the last report (not my fault I didn’t know until a week later) is that Jamie beat her husband Tim, no she didn’t beat him about the head with a big stick, she hit a lot more clays than he did, well done Jamie, are you happy now? Talking of Jamie, the club house, yes we do have a club house will be serving teas and coffee as well as bacon, sausage and egg baps. Jamie will be serving up from 8.45 to 10.30; date of opening is as yet to be confirmed so keep an eye on this page. Big thanks to Graham.L for taking pic’s of you guy’s in action. Next shoot is on the 24th May, hope to see you all back here then.TC
