Tree planting in full swing, replacing some Ash that had to come down due to Ash dieback. So they have been replaced with an Elm, which apparently is disease resistant, fingers X! The other tree to go in is a Metasequoia or Dawn Redwood, big tree! Looking forward to seeing how they get on

It is with great sadness that we have to tell you that our ‘Landlord’, Douglas, passed away this morning. He spent the majority of his life here at Cutthorne and when we bought the house in 2015, he came as part of the package. He was quite the best ratter going and kept their numbers well in check, he would also often appear with rabbits that were bigger than himself. On several occasions he also added pheasant to his diet! Guests arriving at Cutthorne were often welcomed by Douglas especially if they had children. He was very much the boss here, we knew it and so did the dogs. Wyilie, the potting shed dog, once made the mistake of cornering Douglas in a shed; he nearly lost his eye. After that incident, the level of authority was restored and they could often be found curled up together. They are now buried next to each other amongst the flowers where they spent so much time together sunbathing. Ironically tomorrow is exactly a year since we lost Wyilie. Look after each other, we will miss you both very much.
