Here at , we’re proud of our rich heritage.

The Old Mill was built in 1886 by John Jones, a renowned astronomer and mathematician who helped compile astronomical publications and nautical almanacs for the British government.

With this unique link to the past, we’re thrilled to offer guests a NEW complimentary stargazing experience during your stay.

🪿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿Has anyone else seen these incredible geese formations? Play with sound to get the full affect! ❤️

I took this short video yesterday for just a few seconds near Deeside and it shows literally 1000s of geese flying overhead, each formation containing approx. 50-100 geese with more and more flocks overhead as far as the eye could see!

What a wonderful sight 🥰

Tuesday 27th October | Outdoor Creative Writing Workshop

Come and find your inner voice in the woods, under the stretch tent, curled up on the hammock, sitting beneath the trees or gathered around the firepit.

Echo Freer is bringing her years of experience as a writer, author and teacher to the outdoor classroom for a small, relaxed and inspiring creative writing workshop.

Whether you’re:
✨ Curious about writing and wondering where to start
✨ Already a writer looking for fresh inspiration
✨ A younger writer heading towards English as an exciting route in your education
✨ Looking to build confidence, develop your ideas and add to your writing know-how
…this workshop is for you.

Echo draws on her extensive experience of writing books and teaching in schools and at City Lit to create a space where you can experiment, play with words, discover ideas and most importantly, find your own creative voice.

No pressure. No stuffy classroom. Just the woods, good company, a little fire, and plenty of opportunity to get those creative juices flowing.

Small group • Outdoor classroom • Creative fun
Come along, get adventurous with your writing and see where your imagination takes you.

Catering box will be open for snacks, drinks, light lunch and snacks before, during and afterwards. Teas and coffee and biscuits included for tickets holders.

Parents/guardians are welcome to enjoy a space around the woods, sit have a cuppa and read a book.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🥾A wonderful 10k walk with friends up to the view point at Moel Famau in the .

We are so lucky to have this beauty spot on our doorstep, and the weather was perfect with gorgeous autumn light. Plus, we had the place to ourselves, we barely saw another sole! I’ve walked up Moel Famau many times over the years, but it was great to try a new route taking in gorgeous new views and scenery.

My absolute favourite though, is the view looking down on Cilcain reservoir, with the contrasting colours of purple heather and rust coloured bracken 🧡💜
