Our lovely new photos of Top Barn are ready 💚

With two bedrooms on one floor, Top Barn is a cosy home-from-home. There's everything you need for a relaxing getaway, including a wood burner for cooler evenings and our new covered outdoor seating with fire pit.

From inside the barn and out in the garden, the Welsh hills are part of the experience. Big skies, rolling countryside and that feeling of being away from it all. The kind of view you find yourself looking at for just a little longer 🌅

And we think the new photos have captured Top Barn beautifully, from the character of the old building to all the little details that make it such a welcoming place to stay!

We've just had new photos of Long Barn taken and we're loving them💚

It's been such a busy summer we sometimes forget to step back and take stock. But seeing Long Barn captured like this reminds us what a special place it is.

The master bedroom has double doors opening onto the garden and a window looking out across the Welsh hills. Lie in bed and take it all in. Breakfasts on the patio. A fire pit as the sun goes down.

The open-plan living area is made for games, long dinners and relaxing. There are double doors onto the garden, a log burner for cosy evenings and plenty of space for everyone to settle in.

The character of the old barn is still very much there, with sections of exposed stone wall, huge wooden lintels and thick walls that help keep it warm in winter and cool in summer.

But it's the work we've put in that makes Long Barn a home from home. Wood floors throughout, modern bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, wood-burning stove, lush furnishings and attention to detail everywhere you look.

And the views. Of course, the views 🙂

Summer wanders around Monmouth ☀️

Our local town is a great place for a day out, with a wide range of independent shops, plenty of great food and drink, lots of history and architecture to explore and two beautiful rivers, the Wye and the Monnow, offering peaceful countryside walks 💚

We always recommend a visit, it's a lovely town and only a mile from our barns.

No need for weeding or hedge trimming around here, our sheep are happy to do the job 🐑

Our pet sheep live in the neighbouring field and provide endless entertainment, especially when there’s a particularly tasty hedge or patch of weeds to munch on.

They’re very friendly too and love a head stroke and a bit of company, so feel free to say hello when you’re staying with us.

There's a beautiful patchwork of gold and green to the views at the moment ☀️

From the freshly harvested fields below to Monmouth and the Welsh hills in the distance, the landscape in front of our barns is still full of colour and character, with plenty of greenery even though it's been so hot and dry recently!

Whether you prefer a shaded walk in the forest or sunning yourself on the patio, summer is a gorgeous time of year here🌅

Fancy a walk? Woodland or river, meadow or village... step out of your barn and you'll find all of this (and more) right on your doorstep.

A few of our favourite walks from the barns are:

📍Redbrook - 2.2 miles from us along a lovely riverside path, with a well-earned pit-stop at The Boat Inn, Penallt (it would be rude not to!)
📍Staunton Stones - it's around 2.5 miles to Highmeadow Woods, with fantastic sunsets and ancient woodland all around
📍Symonds Yat - 4 miles to the village of Symonds Yat East through Highmeadow or 7 miles going through Monmouth

A little further afield:

📍Whitestone, Cleddon Falls and Duchess Ride Viewpoint - 8 miles from us
📍The Forest of Dean - Cannop Ponds, the Sculpture Trail, Puzzlewood and Mallards Pike are around 5-9 miles away
📍The Three Castles - well worth a visit, Skenfrith Castle is the closest at 8 miles away
📍Tintern and the Devil's Pulpit - a 10 mile walk or park up and explore the village with less than 1 mile uphill to the viewpoint

Whether you’re after a gentle stroll, a riverside ramble or a full day of exploring, this beautiful corner of the world has something for everyone.
