Wow! What a pic!

A very autumnal Grwyne Fawr Reservoir in the Black Mountains. Technically, this is in Powys, but it's close enough to Monmouthshire and such a good photo that we'll claim it! The Black Mountains above Abergavenny are full of surprises, from beautiful medieval churches to stunning vistas and woodland gardens.

The Black Mountains are shared between Monmouthshire, Powys & Herefordshire but can feel a million miles away from civilisation when you're up there staring at the stars.

We never tire of this view from the Sugarloaf! It's the most prominent peak in Monmouthshire, towering over Abergavenny and easily seen from miles around. West is the rest of the Brecon Beacons National Park, north are the Black Mountains, and we're looking east here towards the Skirrid (the mountain in the middle left), which has impressive views of its own.
