Self catering accommodation on the north shore of Loch Morar in the West Highlands of Scotland. We are located on the north shore at Bracara.

We are located on the West Coast of Scotland near the port of Mallaig on the beautiful Loch Morar, this unique loch is the deepest body of freshwater in the British Isles at 310m and is 11.7 miles long. We have a small croft with mainly Hebridean sheep, chickens and ducks. Our two self catering properties both sleep two people and offer a quite get away for two. The Byres is the old converted cro

ft house situated prominently overlooking the loch. It has spacious modern accommodation for two with a picture window with views of the Loch, super kings sized bed or twin on request, separate kitchen and shower room. The perfect romantic hideaway, simply relax and enjoy the view or explore the wonders of the local area including the Small Isles, Knoydart and Ardnamurchan. The Wee Lodge is our glamping pod, a small but perfectly formed step up from camping or alternatively, an on-suite room with a view and small kitchen. Sit on the decking and enjoy the view with sheep grazing nearby and ducks playing in the stream.

Testing the opposition....
The Stags that visit the croft have now regrown their antlers, rutting doesn't start until late September but these two seem to be having an early confrontation. Impressive even when it's a gentle test.

The River Morar which connects Loch Morar to the sea is just 2 miles long. Despite its short length it has a huge catchment area because it drains Loch Morar one of Scotland’s largest freshwater lochs. It’s power has been harnessed since 1948, the small dam on the river only raises Loch Morar by 3 ft but because this is combined with the drop of the Falls of Morar it gives an operating head of about 16 ft. The dam has a fish pass allowing migratory Atlantic Salmon and Sea Trout to reach Loch Morar.

The Grey Heron is one of Scotland's most patient hunters, capable of remaining motionless for several minutes before striking with remarkable speed. Its spear-like bill and sharp eyesight make it one of our most skilled fishing birds.

Moments like this remind us that nature doesn't rush—and sometimes the best wildlife encounters come to those who simply stop and watch.

Pine martens are one of Scotland's most elusive mammals—but sometimes their curiosity gets the better of them. Luckily for us, this 1.30am inspection was caught on camera.

Pine Martens (Martes martes) are a cat sized member of the weasel family, they are a protected species with the Scottish population estimates at just 3,700 adults (NatureScot)
