Our Story
Our website www.thewimslow.co.uk has oodles of information for you, but here is a bit of blurb to hopefully tempt you to come to see us in Morecambe. We are a Just for Grown-ups Bed and Breakfast/Guesthouse, a place to escape and hopefully relax on the East End of Morecambe Promenade. We love our views of the Lake District that our seafront location affords us. We are also close to Lancaster and just a half hour drive from Lancaster University. There are also buses running past the door to both Lancaster, including the University and The Lake District.
The Wimslow has a Victorian feel, but rooms have been kept calm, simple yet tasteful, up to date and easy to 'drive'. Come in unpack acquaint yourselves with the light switches and TV remote and you are home. The house benefits from a 100% no smoking policy. We have a good menu and we use quality ingredients. We also cater for special diets, just let us know in advance and we will do our best for you. Morecambe is a great spot from which to launch into nearby Lancaster, the Lake District, the Forest of Bowland and Yorkshire Dales. We have great independent shops in Morecambe and some lovely places to eat and drink. You can walk for several miles on Morecambe Prom and there is a lovely walk to old Heysham village (so quaint). Catch the tides right and you can visit Sunderland Point on bicycle or by car (on foot if you are really energentic!), or walk up the bay to Carnforth using the prom and then cut across to pick up the Lancaster Canal - good to cycle too. Once in Carnforth there is the train station with the Brief Encounter exhibition and a fabulous cafe.
