Yay! Thank you everybody for your help. 500+ trees and hedgerow planted for the next generations to admire as woodland. To see all the trees zoom in. It will be 5-7 years before the hedges start to show significant growth and 10+ years before the trees start to look chunkier. 20-50 years before they are considered to be maturing. Fingers crossed rewilding and reforesting in this way will encourage the Nightingale to increase its population into our futures...

Saturday 14th March 2026 10am - 12pm. Outdoors, uneven going, 5 mins. walk from car park. Bring a spade and some wellies. Check the weather and bring a brolly/appropriate clothing. Pop in for ten minutes or an hour. We have been given hundreds of trees by Warwickshire Wildlife Trust as part of the Free Trees for Farmers campaign. We want you to come and plant one or some of these trees, be part of Wolford Wood SSSi's 1,000+ year story. Photograph or video your tree(s) to geo tag them, so that you know where it is, if you ever wanted to find it again. Share your photos and videos and follow and tag us. Tea, biscuits and squash available. Loos & Free Car Parking for "planters". Aglais io, commonly known as the Peacock Butterfly, is a dazzling summer visitor to gardens, meadows, and woodland clearings across the UK. 🦋🌼

It’s instantly recognizable by its deep red wings adorned with striking eye-spots that seem to stare back at predators, a masterclass in nature’s drama and camouflage. 👀🔥 From fluttering delicately over nettles to basking in sunny patches, its graceful flight brings vibrant color to every corner it visits. ☀️💃

Peacock butterflies hibernate as adults during winter, re-emerging in spring to lay eggs on nettles, continuing the next generation of this iconic species. 🌿🥚

Chondrostereum purpureum, commonly known as the Silver Leaf Fungus, is a subtle yet mesmerizing resident of UK woodlands, hedgerows, and orchard edges. 🍄🌿

It’s recognizable by its silvery-purple, fan-shaped fruiting bodies that shimmer like tiny metallic shells on branches, often giving infected trees a ghostly, magical glow. 🌙✨ Leaves may silver as the fungus spreads, a quiet signal of its presence. 🍂💜

Spreading via microscopic spores, Silver Leaf Fungus quietly recycles nutrients and shapes woodland life, making it an unsung hero of the forest ecosystem. 🪵🦋
