Low Alwinton Cottages are a collection of classic stone built cottages and Scandinavian log cabins in the heart of the beautiful Northumberland National Park. We offer a variety of self catering accommodation to suit every guest's needs, from the luxury 5 Star Byre Cottage, to our charming 4 star stone built cottages Coquet and Cheviot, or our cosy Scandinavian style log cabins. We are situated 11

miles West of Rothbury in the beautiful Coquet Valley, the perfect location for a holiday in an area renowned for its beauty and rich wildlife. Nestled between Harbottle Forest and the banks of the river Coquet, Low Alwinton Cottages lies in an area home to an abundance of British wildlife including red squirrels, otters and black lizards. The wildlife in the areas around the cottages is one of the most rich and varied in the whole of England. We are also situated inside the Northumberland Dark Sky Park, the largest Dark Sky Park in Europe and home to the darkest skies in England. This makes Low Alwinton Cottages the perfect location for viewing the night sky and a fantastic holiday destination for anyone interested in astronomy or stargazing. Walking and rambling for all abilities begins at the cottage door with a leisurely stroll along the river bank or a more energetic hike to discover the beauty and open space of the Cheviot Hills. Keen anglers can take advantage of the challenging fishing in the river Coquet quite literally metres from the cottages. Pets are welcome in all of our cottages with the exception of Byre Cottage.

Pine Lodge is a perfectly furnished Scandinavian Style lodge is which wonderfully tucked away at the foot of the Cheviot Hills, along the banks of the River Coquet. There’s an abundance of activities nearby for you to take advantage of and it’s only a short drive to the thriving market towns of Rothbury, Alnwick and Morpeth.

The lodge boasts an impressive open plan style, that provides warmth and comfort as well as looking great! The modern kitchen is fully-fitted and opens out to a decked sitting area, or you can take full advantage of the beautiful and breath-taking, unspoilt countryside in the private enclosed garden to the rear of the lodge.

There is also a communal area close to the lodge which contains both a washing machine and tumble dryer, should you require. As well as an additional fridge and freezer if you need any extra space for food storage.

Cheviot Cottage is a traditionally furnished, stone-built cottage which is bursting with history and natural countryside beauty. Cheviot offers a spacious family kitchen and a large sitting room which includes a dining area. The cottage hosts a double fitted bedroom with a quaint little box seat in the window, the perfect spot to retire with your favourite drink and appreciate the astonishing view of the River Coquet.

The cottage includes a very private garden area decorated with a chiminea and furniture that allows you to take in the stunning views all around the hills and river bank; you can even hear the river running while you sit outside.

If you’re planning on booking with a large party, there’s also an adjoining door through to Coquet Cottage which allows luxury accommodation for up to 11 people.

Reiver Lodge is a charming Scandinavian log cabin which ensures a warm and cosy stay, no matter the season. It’s perfectly equipped to comfortably accommodate four guests, with one double bedroom and one adult bunk room. The open plan living area contains a fitted kitchen, dining area and a comfortable seating area.

The kitchen area includes an electric cooker, fridge and microwave. There is also a communal area outside the lodge which contains a washing machine and tumble dryer should you need them, as well as a fridge and freezer if you require any additional food storage.

The lodge offers an enclosed garden and a decked sitting area with breath-taking views of the Harbottle Forest and the Cheviot Hills. The garden additionally includes furniture and a charcoal barbecue.

Coquet Cottage is a traditional 4-star stone cottage, being over 200 years old it’s bursting with history, charm and character. Although it’s the oldest of our accommodation, it offers a beautiful blend of a traditional British stone cottage style with the more modern features of a luxury 4-star holiday cottage.

Coquet achieves the perfect style of a traditional cottage without compromising on modern facilities, such as the under-floor heating which covers both the living area and the kitchen, as well as the newly fitted bathroom with includes a brand-new shower facility, complete with a large showerhead. The lounge and kitchen both adopt a traditional style of exposed stone walls and stone floors and the lounge includes a wonderful open log fire, perfect for relaxing on an evening after a day of exploring the astonishing views of the unspoilt countryside.

The Cottage also has a new easy access staircase and a double bedroom downstairs so it can be suitable and enjoyable holiday location for everyone.

The luxurious interior isn’t the sole advantage of this incredible cottage; there is also an enclosed garden which provides a gorgeous view out onto the peaceful hills and the Coquet River.
