WHAT'S ON THIS WEEK

These nights just keep getting better – we can never resist a Bandstand sunset! We really felt the funk from Fever Check on Saturday and our continues to amaze with new faces and a full house enjoying incredible talent from near and far. There's more great stuff on the way...

: this Wednesday we're delighted to have Danny Mortimer on stage. This singer/songwriter/guitarist has been grabbing attention since bursting onto the scene in 2015. He’s played at some of the county’s best venues and festivals, including the O2 ABC and Belladrum, and is currently recording his fourth solo album. With his brand of melodic guitar-based rock, Danny’s passion shines through every single time he steps up to the microphone. Music from 8pm.

Saturday: TBC – we're crossing the I's and dotting the T's on Saturday's live act. Stay tuned!

: Mike Breen returns as host for this week's open mic. He says: "I was a choir boy who wanted to be Axl Rose but then grunge came along..." The result? Powerful, raw and emotional vocals from a truly arresting performer. Tunes from 6.30pm – get down early, sign up and show us what you've got!

WHAT'S ON THIS WEEK

We hope you had as good a long weekend as we did! We're pleased to announce that last Thursday's Big Pub Singalong, spearheaded by Fiona Sellar and The Broads, raised £1296.10 for the Liam Finnerty Charitable Trust. Thanks so much to all who came, played, sang and donated towards this brilliant fundraising total. Here's this week's bill...

: this Wednesday features Alistair Cossar, an Inverness-based acoustic singer and fledgling songwriter. He's known for beautifully emotive and often lesser-known covers across indie, alt-folk, rock and pop, delivered in a heartfelt, stripped-back style. Support from Jo Turner, music from 8pm.

Saturday: It's party time as Fever Check take the Bandstand stage at 9pm. Formed just last year but already recommended as one to watch, they'll hit you with infectious beats, killer hooks and downright dirty riffs from all genres and eras. The band’s frontwoman brings attitude and standout vocals – you may even recognise her from the new Channel Four show Your Song.

: Dave Levon returns to host our open mic from 6.30pm, bringing his usual energy and decades of experience as the soundtrack to all celebrations across Scotland. We can't get enough of all the new performers taking part each week – maybe this Sunday could be the first for you?

See you soon, folks!

WHAT’S ON THIS WEEK

It’s another busy one at Bandstand HQ, with five nights of live music to keep you entertained, including a singalong fundraiser for a special local charity, a band’s Nairn swansong after 35 years, and a country double bill at the weekend. Here's the full run-down...

: acoustic trio Foxwoodbell make their Bandstand debut from 8pm on Wednesday. Expect unplugged favourites from Crowded House to Thin Lizzy and a relaxed vibe.

Thursday – The Big Pub Singalong in aid of The Liam Finnerty Charitable Trust: Following the sudden loss of Liam in 2024, this charity was founded to help provide support for local children and underprivileged families. Come along and join in with classics by artists from the Beatles to the Bangles, led by The Broads and other local musicians. All donations made towards the trust’s fantastic work will be hugely appreciated. 8pm start. Please be aware we are fully booked for dinner on Thursday evening.

Friday: Ezra - last chance to dance! Building up to their final gig on 8 August, Ezra are playing for the last time in one of their favourite venues. Started in 1991, the band has played thousands of gigs all over the country but couldn’t wrap it up without playing again to the Bandstand crowd. Here’s to a good send-off – music from 8.30pm.

Saturday: it’s cowboy boots at the ready as Inverness country band Wounded Moose take the stage. With Ali Dooner on lead vocals, Robin Abbot on double bass and harmony vocals, Ben Hesling on acoustic guitar, Dickie Bills on cajon, Liza Mulholland on accordion and harmony vocals, and Rachel Lewtas on fiddle, this is a line-up of serious talent! Performing their own original songs as well as fantastic, well-chosen country covers from 9pm.

: it’s almost as if we planned it… wind down the weekend with our open mic hosted this week by the Johnny Cash Duo. Ullapool-based musicians Calum MacRae and Michele Garner sing the songs of Johnny Cash and June Carter along with a few other classics from 6.30pm. Then it’s over to you – all performers are welcome: we’ll look after you – don’t be shy!

BEER OF THE FESTIVAL 2026

We don't normally single out a specific ale from our festivals, but due to universal feedback, we're delighted to recognise by Brewery as the beer of our . Congratulation guys - keep up the great work!

In addition to fantastic feedback from our local ale lovers, visiting CAMRA members also declared Dubh-Mor their favourite with the following quote:

"Highland and Western Isles CAMRA, along with colleagues from Aberdeen, Grampian and the Northern Isles held a social event at the annual spring beer festival at the Bandstand, Nairn on 2nd May. Although this is an independent festival we felt we should take a leaf out of CAMRA organised events and choose a ‘Beer of the Festival’. After a diverse range of tasting by members, we unanimously agreed that the top beer on offer on the day was Dubh-Mor, a dark ale produced by Electric Village (River Leven) Brewery in Kinlochleven.

From the Beer Finder description Dubh-Mor is a light bodied stout with subtle chocolate and orange notes. Formerly known as Scooby Dubh.

We would urge anyone to give it a try if they get the chance. Cheers."

WHAT’S ON THIS WEEK

It was another successful Taste of Nairn at the weekend – we were so pleased to team up with the festival for our gorgeous jazz supper club on Friday. This week features Siobhán Neylon on Wednesday night and an exciting debut host on Sunday, plus golf on screen throughout with the PGA Championship.

: captivating singer Siobhán brings soul-stirring influences from the raw emotion of Sinéad O’Connor, the powerful passion of Dolores O’Riordan, and the smooth, intimate warmth of Norah Jones. She takes beloved songs and reimagines them in her own heartfelt, acoustic style – breathing new life into them with her rich voice, delicate guitar work, and unmistakable Irish charm. Support from Jo Turner, music from 8pm.

: this week's hosts are Reverend Cassidy and the Jackoffs on a mid-tour stop. With the self-described genre of "O brother where art Hank Williams”, they play old-timey music, blending traditional melodies with heartfelt harmonies that feel like a walk along the bank of the Mississippi river a long time ago. It's sure to be a great start to the night – will you join the party? All performers are, as always, welcome! Music from 6.30pm.

We're open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week and those sunsets from the Sea View Restaurant are only getting better! Book to guarantee your table as the season continues.

And finally – Landlord G helped clear up what golf is all about for our socials writer today: “A relaxing hobby where otherwise sensible adults spend five hours angrily chasing a tiny ball through bushes, bunkers, lakes and existential despair. One perfect shot briefly convinces you you’re basically Tiger Woods, before your next swing launches the ball directly into another postcode.” ⛳

See you soon!
