After having to close for the best part of a year we’re delighted that guests are now able to enjoy their long-awaited stays with us. Here are reviews from Tripadvisor since our reopening in April – incredibly happy guests and amazing reviews – we cannot ask for better than that! Beautiful barn 'cottage', gorgeous location, lovely owners & pet friendly
'Albertine' barn is a spacious, beautifully laid out, and in a very pretty area of the Peak District. The barn was comfortingly, especially in these times of a pandemic, exceptionally clean. The kitchen was well supplied with crockery and white goods etc. Beds very comfy with fresh non-starchy bed linen - a must for me! Two trails are literally on the doorstep, and the area is stunning. The four of us, and Ruby the Labrador, had a wonderful week. Middle Farm is perfectly located with Bakewell only 10 minutes away by car with its numerous local shops, including the various Bakewell tarts & puddings bakeries, and an Aldi on outskirts. The property was so peaceful and perfect, with owners Julie & Brian really making us at home. Sweet touches of leaving a bottle of wine, fresh garden flowers and even a bowl, plus towel for our dog means we will definitely return!!

Wonderful holiday break
Fantastic cottage holiday that cannot be recommended highly enough
Beautiful peaceful location very accessible to local facilities, with lovely farm walks from the doorstep.
Well equipped and comfortable cottage.
WE had a 2 year old with us - great facilities for her. And also my mobility impaired father and the downstairs bedroom/ bathroom and ground floor layout made life easy for him.
Hosts very welcoming and helpful.

Lovely old barn in beautiful setting
Albertine barn has been converted to a high standard to give a comfortable, well appointed holiday home. It is located in beautiful, peaceful countryside with good walking and cycling right from the door. There are many lovely villages and other attractions within a short drive. Brian, the owner, was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The garden was beautiful so equally many happy hours could be spent admiring the view and watching the swift’s circle overhead.

Delightful experience
My family (2 adults, 2 toddlers) stayed in Albertine for 2 weeks in late Apr. We had a delightful time and I would unhesitatingly recommend it as a brilliant Peak District base for families looking for a relaxing stay, with fantastic walking opportunities literally on your doorstop. Brian and Julie were extremely helpful and friendly, the cottage is extremely well equipped (e.g. no need to bring your own knife sharpener, cot, or cafetiere!), and the location is fantastic. Thoroughly recommended!

Characterful cottage tucked away in the hills
Maigold Cottage is a spacious and well-equipped property, originally a farm building, lovingly restored by the current owners, Brian & Julie. Its location just off the Monsal trail is ideal for walking straight from the door in several directions. Pretty villages & towns like Ashford in the Water and Buxton are not far by car and the cottage has brochures and detailed maps for your use. Sitting outside with a glass or a cuppa is so restful - the view is stunning. Julie & Brian are friendly and helpful hosts who also respect your privacy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend.

One of the best cottages we have stayed in.
Fantastic views. Very attractive, imaginative and comfortable barn conversion, with beautiful, spacious, light living room. Central and convenient for all Peak District attractions. Lovely walks from the door. On site owners friendly and welcoming without being intrusive. We have stayed in a lot of holiday cottages during 38 years of marriage, and this is way up there with the best.

Maigold Cottage - a beautiful stay :)
Stunning place with character and gorgeous country side views. Five star for hygiene and amenities. Friendly and welcoming, both Brian and Julie our hosts made our stay one to remember. Thank you both for everything we will definitely try and come visit again soon.

A superb, quiet and relaxing Cottage
We've just returned from our 3rd visit to Maigold, and highly recommend it. It is a lovely cosy cottage with ample space for 4 people. Although quietly tucked away amidst beautiful scenery and with walks direct from the door, it is only a few miles to both Buxton / Bakewell and also a lot of nice pubs. Brian & Julie, the owners, live on site and are very friendly and helpful without being intrusive. We look forward to our 4th visit !

Excellent
Friendly owners in adjacent farmhouse were very welcoming and helpful. Views across the valley and sunshine streaming into the living room in the morning. Lock up for bike was handy. Cottage (barn conversion) itself had plenty of space for 4, clean and very nicely presented. Hoping to return.
