Our Story Begins in 1783...

Every building has a story, and ours spans more than two centuries.

What began in 1783 as a pottery works built by James Bulkeley and William Bent has continually evolved alongside our local community.

✨ In the early 1800s, the pottery was transformed into a brewery, with the original kiln becoming a malt kiln.

🏡 By 1853, the brewery received its licence to become an inn, marking the birth of what is now The Borough Arms Hotel.

Today, we're proud to remain independently owned and managed, welcoming guests from across the UK while preserving the character and history that make our hotel so special.

Whether you're joining us for a relaxing stay, a delicious meal, a family celebration or simply a warm welcome, you're becoming part of our story too.
