Next Adventure… 📍Windy Gap! 🌬️⛰️

And what a view!! 😍

Special thanks to Lenny's cousin, Martina Walsh for taking us on a little adventure to Windy Gap! Located near Slieve Croob, where the County Down countryside seems to stretch forever!

We loved:
🌿 Rolling green fields as far as the eye can see
⛰️ The impressive backdrop of the Mournes
🌼 Peaceful little inviting paths and
🙏 A little shrine called Our Mother of the Hill, with quite a story behind it!

Apparently, back in 1954, an 8-year-old boy reported seeing an apparition of the Virgin Mary here. A shrine was later established, and it became a place of prayer and pilgrimage.

We had no idea we'd find such an interesting piece of local history tucked away in these hills!

Beautiful views, a little mystery, and another corner of County Down discovered! 💙

It's the People Who Make It Special! 🩵

When Liam and I opened our home to guests, we never imagined the lovely connections we'd make along the way. ☺️

Every guest brings their own story, and every now and then, someone leaves a little piece of themselves behind.

Our recent guest, Paul, did just that! 🥹

He surprised us with the most beautiful handmade Celtic knot carving, and an incredible pencil sketch of Newcastle's bridge with a "Peace Be With You" note on the back. 🎨

Paul, your kindness, generosity and amazing talent have truly touched our hearts. We will treasure these gifts and proudly display them in our home for others to enjoy.

Peaks & Tides has always been our home, but sharing it with wonderful people like Paul is what makes it feel like a family. 🩵

A Little TLC Behind the Scenes! 🏡🩵

It's not all coastal walks and mountain adventures at Peaks & Tides! 😂

We've been busy giving our little home by the sea some extra love lately!

🎨 Freshened up the paintwork
🍽️ Installed a brand-new dishwasher
💡 Added new lighting
🧶 Brought in a cozy new rug
🗺️ Restocked our basket with brochures and ideas for places to explore!

Nothing too glamorous… just lots of little things that make a difference!

We love getting out and discovering new places, but we also love making sure Peaks & Tides feels welcoming and comfortable for everyone who stays. ☺️

Next Adventure...📍Dundrum Castle! 🏰⛰️

Just 4½ miles from Peaks & Tides Retreat, we discovered another little gem right on our doorstep!

This medieval castle dates back to around 1177!! That is nearly 850 years of history!😲😲

We loved wandering around and enjoyed:
🏰 Ancient stone walls and an impressive round tower
🌊 Beautiful views across Dundrum Bay
📜 A glimpse into life nearly 850 years ago!

There's always something new to discover around Newcastle!

Until Next Time, Newcastle... 💙🌊

That familiar drive out of Newcastle... always the hardest part of our visit! 🥹

We're back home, the suitcases are unpacked, and I'm already missing those sea views!

Another wonderful stay at Peaks & Tides Retreat filled with adventures, a little relaxation, and plenty of jobs ticked off our list! 🏡⛰️

It's never easy leaving, but we're already looking forward to the next time. 🩵

And don't worry, I've still got a few more adventures from this trip to share with you! 😉

A Bright Idea… Thanks to Tony! 💡🩵

One of our lovely returning guests, Tony, recently stayed with us again at Peaks & Tides Retreat.

After he headed home, I checked in and asked how everything had been.

His answer? Everything was great! 💙

But he did have one little suggestion…

📖 He loves reading in bed and thought a bedside light would be a lovely addition.

We already had handy little bedside niches with shelves and charging points, but he was right… a reading light would make them even better!

So we got on that right away, and voilà! 💡💡

Two new bedside reading lights, all thanks to Tony!

It's the little things that make a stay feel like home, and we genuinely appreciate when our guests help us make Peaks & Tides even better.
