Batten down the hatches - Storm Austen arrives tomorrow evening! 🌊 💨

First storm of the season, with Boelo, Chloe, Dano and Evelyn to follow later this winter.

Keeping a close eye on the forecast for Rocklea. Hoping the bins and garden furniture stay firmly where they are!

🎃🍬 Halloween is just around the corner in Newcastle!

No seaside trip is complete without our two legendary sweet shops.

🍭 Tip Top: Est. 1937 and pure nostalgia. Jars stacked to the ceiling and quarter bags of all your old favourites. A non negotiable stop for my family every time we stay in the cottage.

💜 💛The Bon Bon: Famous for that brilliant love heart mural outside. "Bout Ye", "Wise Up", "Keep 'Er Lit", "Catch Yourself On". Pure Norn Iron gold and the perfect photo spot!

Halfway into October here at Rocklea.

Sunrise from the garden, glassy harbour water, a full rainbow over the bay and the pampas glowing. I love this time of year - perfect for a beach walk in a jacket and then back to a cosy cottage.

I have half term week available - 24th to 30th October - if anyone fancies a little sea air in Newcastle.

Autumn sunrises like this never get old - crisp air, glowing skies and quiet coastal paths right on the doorstep.

Rare half-term opening: Sat 24 Oct - Sat 31 Oct, 7 nights, full week only. This unexpected gap won't last long.

⚓️✨Sunday morning at Newcastle Harbour...

A 20-minute flat walk from the cottage, glassy water after the bigger boats were lifted out on Saturday, and sea swimmers down at the slipway.

A few photos from Sunday; saving this bit of calm for Wednesday morning. One of my favourite easy danders.

The tables have turned - in the best way! 💛

I love leaving welcome treats for guests at Rocklea, so it was such a lovely surprise to walk in and find a gorgeous thank-you card, chocolates and a beautiful scented candle left for me.

Reading that my guests enjoyed slow days by the sea and were even lucky enough to spot dolphins right by the house truly made my week. Knowing they felt at home and relaxed is everything.

Thank you so much Priya and family - you left the cottage absolutely spotless. You're welcome back anytime! 🌊🐬✨
