If you are looking for a domestic getaway this summer, I am reinforcing my firm recommendation of the Isle of Wight.
Cowes, Ryde, Shanklin, Ventnor, Freshwater, Bembridge, and more too. Right across the island, we are blessed with incredible scenery, so much to do for children, and just generally a really welcoming atmosphere.
There’s the amazing Blackgang Chine, the historic Osborne House, and world-class beaches—the children will not get bored. You can take the chairlift down to see the multi-colored sands of The Needles or explore the coastal paths.
It’s not too far from London, but because you have to cross the Solent, it feels like a proper escape. It is proper England.
And yes, it is affordable. There is a huge range of pubs, restaurants and cafes where the food is priced well and you can find some fantastic local pubs where a pint won't cost you city prices.
Come and stay with us at beautiful Shorwell where I would thoroughly recommend a visit, even for a few days. The discounted ferry trip alone makes it feel like a real holiday!
