Meet Nikolett and Rebecca who are currently working towards completing an apprenticeship at the Daish’s Training Academy and have become valued members of the Daish’s team.

Nikolett is working towards completing a Level 5 management apprenticeship at the Bournemouth Sands Hotel: “I have started the apprenticeship to better myself and to learn more about the job that i have been doing. There are several staff managing tools I have learnt and can use it on a daily basis. I am a lot more confident when arranging a meeting with staff. I am hoping to become a general manager in the future with the help and guidance of my general manager.”

Rebecca is based at the Russell Hotel in Weymouth. She is studying for a level 2 commis chef qualification.
“I began my apprenticeship to gain experience and qualifications in the kitchen. My character growth in the last year has been amazing - I am confident in my role and can tackle challenges head on. I’m looking forward to continuing with further education and developing in my career once I complete my apprenticeship.”

We currently have 11 Apprentices working with us at Daish's, this week we have been thinking about what we can do to improve, adapt and be a better supporter of our Apprentices...

We work closely with our Apprenticeship provider Locomotivation to create the best possible experience for all our learners. Here are our targets to be even better throughout 2023!

Adam is a Team Member apprentice at one of our hotels. He was an existing employee who had the drive to do more, learn more and better himself!

In Adam's own words...

“I wanted to learn on the job instead of going to college full-time, as I don't enjoy classroom-based learning and thrive and learn by being in a busy workplace environment.

“After I finish the apprenticeship, I want to continue my career in hospitality. I’m looking forward to continuing my learning with a team leader qualification and hopefully becoming a hotel General Manager in the future.”

Not everyone learns the same, some of us struggle with learning in classrooms or from a screen or book. Apprenticeships don't force all learners into one category where they only learn in one particular way. They are adaptable and inclusive!

Following the latest government announcement made by the Prime Minister on Monday January 4th, we can confirm that sadly our hotels will remain temporarily closed until at least 1st March 2021, in light of the nationwide lockdown restrictions that are now in force.

Once again, we will be contacting all our affected customers in departure date order, and we kindly ask for your patience while we work through the bookings.

We would like to thank everyone for their continued patience and support during these challenging times and we look forward to welcoming everyone back as soon as possible.

Please take care and stay safe.

We want to thank everyone for their patience and continued support during these challenging times. We appreciate there has been a number announcements from ourselves recently, but our aim is to provide clarity and reassurance for all guests who have upcoming stays booked with us.

Unfortunately, due to the ever changing picture as we move beyond Christmas and New Year, we have decided that we must make another difficult decision. Due to the high number of our guests who live in Tier 3 or 4 areas, along with the current advice for those in Tier 1 and 2 areas, asking them to ‘stay local’, we have sadly decided that our hotels will remain closed until at least 1st February 2021.

Once again we will be contacting affected customers in departure date order and we kindly ask that you bear with us while we work through the bookings.

Thank you once again for your support, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back as soon as possible.

Please take care, stay safe, and we wish you all a very merry Christmas.

Following the most recent government announcement made on Saturday 19th December, and after careful consideration, we have made the difficult and heart-breaking decision to close all of our hotels over the Christmas and New Year period.

We know after what has been an incredibly difficult year, many of our customers were greatly looking forward to a festive break, and this is a decision that has not been taken lightly. It is also extremely disappointing for us at Daish’s, given all the hard work that our teams have put into making our holidays and coach travel COVID-Secure. We were also looking forward to spreading some much-needed festive cheer at the end of a very challenging year.

While we had hoped to remain open for those guests who were still able to travel from Tier 1 or 2 areas, following the announcement made by the Prime Minister on Saturday asking everyone to ‘remain local’, we feel as a responsible operator that the right decision is to close our hotels to ensure the safety of all our loyal guests and staff.

We will be contacting customers in departure date order and kindly thank you in advance for your patience while we work through all our bookings.

We’ll be working hard over the coming weeks and months as we look forward to welcoming guests back as soon as we are able. We are especially excited to welcome our first guests into our newest hotels – Imperial Hotel, Eastbourne and Abbey Lawn Hotel, Torquay.

We hope to hear more good news in the coming weeks with additional vaccines hopefully being approved for use in the UK, alongside the existing vaccine rollout, and look forward to what we hope will be a more positive year for all of us.

Take care, stay safe, and we look forward to welcoming you back in 2021.

Our Story

Just a stones throw from the beach and the cliff top where the “Barrowfields” are located named after the Barrows or Tumuli that have been discovered here. Before anyone understood their historic importance, a local farmer, named Cardell, removed much of the stone from most of the barrows for nothing more sinister than to shore up the walls surrounding his fields. One of the barrows was excavated, and deep at the centre were found charred cooking pots and a coarse pottery burial urn containing the mortal remains of a Bronze Age Chieftan, who lived here some 3,500 years ago. It was believed that sacred sites such as these were used not only for the honouring of their dead but also places for gathering and celebration.

Our hotel see’s guests return year after year due to our superb location, friendly warm service and great value for money holidays. All of which add up to make us one of the finest Cornish hotels. There’s a wide choice of single, twin, double, triple and family rooms that sleep up to 5 people, so we’re flexible enough to welcome everyone. When you couple the location with the fact the hotel has a snooker room, indoor swimming pool and sauna, you’ll see the Barrowfield Hotel is a great choice.

Cornwall is one of the most popular destinations for a traditional English seaside break and Newquay boasts beautiful beaches that are ideal for family fun, while the surrounding areas include zoos, an aquarium, museums and the world-famous Eden Project.
