"Our least productive member of staff..."

Odin will greet you when you arrive tail wagging madly!

Then he will torture you for hours with a ball, a stick or a stone..until we put him to bed!

Have you met Odin???

If someone said, "I'm taking you away for two nights and you don't need to organise a thing"...

This is where I'd send you.

Goldfinches is our little bit of grown-up luxury at Willowtree.

A huge super-king bed, that big picture window looking out towards the Mournes, your own private Jacuzzi, firepit and a garden that's completely yours.

Close the door and disappear for a couple of days.

We've had proposals here, anniversaries, mini-moons, birthdays... and plenty of couples celebrating absolutely nothing other than getting away together.

And actually, I think those might be my favourite.

If someone surprised you with two nights here, what would your reaction be?

100KM IN THE MOURNES, TWO DAYS OF RUNNING AND A LITTLE WILLOWTREE MAGIC!

What a weekend we’ve just had at Willowtree Retreats!

We had the absolute pleasure of welcoming David and Stephen Flynn from and their incredible crew, who were taking on an epic challenge, running 100km through our beautiful Mourne Mountains, covering 50km each day!

After Saturday's mountain adventure, the lads arrived at Willowtree for some well-earned recovery. We had our traditional Irish Sweat House sauna fired up, the cold plunge ready and the jacuzzi waiting, with sports massage therapist on hand to help those tired legs.

And here's the best bit...

They loved the whole experience so much that they asked if they could come back and do it all again on Sunday!

Of course we said YES!

Derek even joined the crew on Sunday's mountain run before everyone returned to Willowtree for another evening of hot and cold therapy, sports massages, plenty of laughs and some fantastic food from Scoopers.

It was one of those weekends that reminded us exactly why we created Willowtree. Bringing people together, enjoying the outdoors, pushing boundaries and having somewhere special to relax, recover and reconnect afterwards.

And it got us thinking...

Why not offer this experience to more running clubs, cycling groups, fitness buddies and adventure groups visiting the Mournes?

Private sauna, cold plunge, jacuzzi, sports massage and great local food, all in one beautiful setting at the foot of the mountains.

We're excited to explore this as a new group recovery experience at Willowtree Retreats!

A massive thank you to David, Stephen and the whole crew for bringing such brilliant energy to Willowtree, to Ryan for looking after everyone and to Scoopers for the delicious food.

And a special mention to Derek, who couldn't resist getting out on the mountains with the lads!

100km of adventure. A weekend of recovery. Some brilliant new friendships.

This is what Willowtree is all about.

If you're organising a running weekend, group adventure or fitness retreat in the Mournes, we'd love to hear from you.

When did you last have 48 hours where nobody needed anything from you?

No work.

No children shouting your name.

No washing pile looking at you.

No appointments.

No feeling guilty because you should be doing something else.

Just two days.

A cabin in the Mournes. Long walks. Firelight. Hot water. Good food. Sleep.

We've got some lovely midweek availability coming up and I'm including a private sweathouse sauna session with selected two-night stays.

Maybe you don't need another busy weekend.

Maybe you need 48 hours of absolutely nothing.

Who else feels like this at the minute?

Our smallest cabin... and still one of our most loved.

Robin's Nest has been here from the very beginning.

It's tiny, cosy and completely unapologetic about both.

But then you step outside...

Outdoor heated shower looking towards the Mournes, your own private bio hot tub, firepit, garden and those views.

We've had so many couples stay in this little hut over the years and some come back again and again.

So this one is for the Robin's Nest veterans...

Have you stayed here?

Tell me your favourite memory from Robin's. I'd genuinely love to hear them.

A little reminder that behind Willowtree, it's really just us.

Me, Derek... and Odin, who contributes very little to the workload but considers himself management.

We designed this place ourselves, built so much of it with our own hands and we're still the ones you'll find cutting grass, planting trees, cleaning hot tubs, fixing things, lighting fires and getting cabins ready before you arrive.

Sometimes I think people imagine there's a big team behind Willowtree.

There really isn't.

It's our home, our land and a slightly mad idea that grew into something we're incredibly proud of.

And after all these years, we still get a buzz seeing someone arrive and watching them immediately slow down.

If you've stayed with us before, how long have you been following our Willowtree journey?

I'm going to try something a little different for our quieter midweek stays...

Rather than discounting Willowtree, I'd much rather give you MORE of the experience.

So for selected two-night midweek stays, I'm including a private session in our traditional Irish sweathouse sauna for the two of you.

Two nights tucked away in the Mournes, your own cabin and private hot tub, long walks, fires in the evening... and an hour to heat up and completely switch off in the sweathouse.

Midweek Willowtree is probably when we're at our quietest too. It really does feel like you've escaped from the world.

Would this tempt you to take a cheeky couple of days off work?

Why we've chosen bio hot tubs

This is actually a really good educational post because guests may not understand the difference.

Hot tub or Jacuzzi... which would you choose?

We've recently added another bio hot tub at Willowtree because our guests absolutely love them.

There's something completely different about sinking into softly heated water with no chlorine or chemical smell, surrounded by trees with the Mournes in front of you.

It's quieter, simpler and feels much more connected to nature. For us, it just fits Willowtree.

But we know some of you LOVE a proper bubbling Jacuzzi too, so we're not taking those away.

If you're firmly Team Jacuzzi, you'll find one at Goldfinches' Retreat, and we also have our large Jacuzzi in the spa area.

So I'm curious...

Which are you choosing?

A. Quiet, naturally heated bio hot tub, a glass of w**e and the sounds of nature.

B. Bubbles, jets and a proper Jacuzzi soak.

Tell me below because I'm genuinely interested to see which wins.
