That last swim of the day. No strangers, no waiting for a lane, no keeping an eye on someone else's kids. The pool is yours and yours alone, because at Long Barn it's booked out privately to each cottage.

Then it's dressing gowns, wet hair and hot chocolate back at the cottage while someone argues about whose turn it is on the pool table tomorrow.

Nobody books a holiday cottage for the bed. It never makes the photos, and you only notice it if it's wrong. Which is exactly why we didn't cut corners on ours.

So this review from Andrew, who stayed in Honeybag with his partner and their six-month-old, made us smile:

"The place was perfect for us. Nice and cosy. The bed was actually probably one of the most comfortable beds we've had when staying away... The onsite pool is fantastic and the system to book it per cottage works really well, so you get private use of it while staying... The place is so peaceful and quiet. Location is brilliant."

You know when packing for a holiday with a baby involves more admin than an actual house move? Steriliser, forty-seven muslins 'just in case', a travel cot that doesn't fit in the boot...

Our cottages have already sorted the boring bits. Wooden cot, highchair, stair gates, kids' plates, cups and cutlery, all there. There's even a food processor if you want to pretend you're still blending your own organic purees on holiday. Heated indoor pool and play barn included too.

You know when the summer holidays have started, everyone's already posting their beach photos, and you... haven't booked anything yet? 🙈
