Many, many thanks to our guests who donated to Animals in Distress. The final collection box has now been received by the charity, it contained £215. That makes a grand total of £1,238.85 that you have contributed! Thank you all for your generosity. (The photo is of Chesney, one of our feral cats who was adopted from AiD in 2017).

“It’s with mixed emotions that we have to announce that we will be retiring on Monday 9th February. We’ve had a wonderful 14 years meeting people from all around the world but now it is time to retire. Thank you to everyone who has made running our B&B not a job but a pleasure. We will treasure the memories. “

Sometimes life doesn't go as planned. As many of you will know, we were going to retire this year. But on the day we were due to exchange contracts on our house the buyer at the bottom of the chain walked away, leaving us and the rest of the chain in limbo. Worse things can definitely happen and there is an up side. In the sunniest summer we can remember we are reopening the Garden Suite and have masses of availability. If you'd like to come and stay please get in touch. We would love to see you!

This was the month we were supposed to have retired. But somehow we just couldn't say goodbye to all our lovely guests! So from now on we're letting out just the Garden Suite on a B and B or board only basis. I really should be rewriting the website to reflect the changes we're making but with weather like this that will have to wait for another day!

In five weeks time, at the end of September, we will be retiring, but for now we are still enjoying welcoming guests to Bulleigh Barton. The sun's out, the forecast is wonderful and we'd just like to reassure potential guests that we are not in the area affected by the Cryptosporidium outbreak. Our hearts go out to the people and businesses in Brixham and the surrounding area who are affected but we are reassured by the fact that our water comes from a completely different reservoir through a separate pipe network. You will find some restrictions in place through Brixham, Kingswear and surrounding areas but, despite what the media seem to be implying, the problem is restricted to a limited number of well defined areas. Life in other favourite places for guests such as Dartmouth, Totnes, Shaldon, Teignmouth, Salcombe and the whole of the moor, is completely unaffected. We hope to see you soon.

Hello spring, how we've been longing to see you again. After a long, wet winter there is a change in the air, a beautiful stillness after the endless battering of wind and rain. The birdsong has swelled to fill the calm. A wonderful day to be alive.
