Our guests staying over the last few days were lucky to see a pine marten yesterday at Glentrool. They had finished their lovely walk around Loch Trool and were sitting by the Visitor Centre.

A lovely Valentine’s walk today with friends. We went up Cornish hill and there was a dusting of snow, which made the view very pretty. There wasn’t any Cornish pasties, but James did bring Valentine’s chocolates to share. 😁

A fabulous, welcoming evening at the Vault Art Centre. We enjoyed hearing the bluegrass and folk tune song session. Our guest, from Corsica, shared his traditional music with Nathan Jones and local musicians and they all played together. Great to hear and enjoy the friendly atmosphere.

Then we went to Wee Bits, a new restaurant, in our town. Delicious food and a very friendly service. We’ll be back there.

As many visitors to The Stables know, I work on a Monday and Friday morning at the charity Wheels of Fleet, fixing bikes for people. One of the volunteers at the charity was Alistair (aka Garry) Turnbull. He died a couple of weeks ago whilst sailing in Wigtown bay. Next Monday will be his funeral. He was a friend and will be missed by all of us at Wheels of Fleet. He was both a gentle and strong soul, and a privilege to know.
