The b**rs for Wigtoberfest have been put to bed and are settling in nicely for a stormy evening. Come along this Saturday and Sunday from 12pm till late. The lederhosen is being pressed as we speak! 🇩🇪

We've got live music on Saturday from 8pm courtesy of Bre Martin, and a last-minute addition on Sunday too, with Jim Bainbridge joining us from 2pm! 🎶

If the power goes out, we've got plenty of firewood, just enough b**r, world-class w**e, and enough bratwurst to feed a small town.

Wigtoberfest is still on this Saturday and Sunday! 🍻🍺🍻 After learning the hard way last year, we've decided to bring Wigtoberfest indoors rather than hosting it in the back garden as planned!

We've still got a brilliant selection of b**rs ready for the weekend, and we'll be taking over a little corner of the lounge to serve them from. Food will still be served all day too, minus the BBQ for obvious reasons - but bratwurst and other delights will still be on the menu!

We've also got live music lined up from 8pm on Saturday, courtesy of Bre Martin and friends! Very much looking forward to that! 🎹🎶🎹

We'll be as storm-resilient as we can be, with backup battery banks and enough b**r and strudel to keep Wigtown warm!

As things are a little more scaled down than originally planned, we're reducing the ticket price to just £5 - and anyone who's already paid full price will get their first pint on us! 🍺

Full b**r list to follow, but a huge thank you to Wigtown Brewery, Five Kingdoms Brewery, Sulwath Brewery and Lowland Brewery for their excellent b**rs!

Come rain or shine (but probably rain!), we're looking forward to a cracking weekend! 🍻 Cheers to all our fans!

It's Wigtoberfest this weekend! Two days of brilliant local b**r 🍻
Join us on 24th and 25th October for a weekend celebrating the finest ales from our fantastic local breweries, a BBQ and bratwursts, a great atmosphere, and old friends.

Lederhosen and dirndl's are optional but encouraged! We'll have brewers from Five Kingdoms Brewery and Wigtown Brewery, and a great selection of cask ales from Sulwath Brewery and Lowland Brewery. A few photos from last year included, but this year b**r will be served in a much more robust windproof trailer!

Tickets are £10, but include a Wigtoberfest cup and £5 worth of b**r tokens on arrival. They can be purchased online or you can pay on the day too!

Wowsers, what a Wigtown Book Festival! Congratulations to everyone involved who makes it such a success and continues to build on it year after year - really brilliant work!

A massive thank you to all the staff who work in our wee pub, too. They consistently go above and beyond, and it's been lovely to hear the tales of the festival from so many happy visitors and guests.

We're also really pleased to be adding Sulwath Brewery to our cask ale repertoire! Their first delivery arrived today and is just getting cosy and settling into the cellar as we type. Enjoy!! 🍻

Today we’re giving away a pair of tickets for Melanie Ramdarshan Bold and TWO Family Day Passes!

- Writer and Youth Literature and Culture Professor, Melanie Ramdarshan Bold, joins us on Sunday, 4th October to talk about a global symbol of the UK in the 21st Century – a marmalade-loving Peruvian bear who first appeared in a now-legendary 1958 children’s book 🧸

- Family Day Passes enable a family of up to five people full access to children's events for one day at Wigtown Book Festival. Booking of individual events is still essential and can be arranged with the festival box office. This is a great chance for two local families to attend for FREE 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒

Wonderful b**r news… and Wigtoberfest is back! 🍻

We’re thrilled - and honestly a bit blown away - to have been included in the CAMRA Good B**r Guide 2027. There are a million and one thank yous to be given, in no particular order!

Thanks to the brewers at Five Kingdoms Brewery and Wigtown Brewery for their top-notch b**r that we’re really proud to serve! We also hope to have Sulwath Brewery on the bar in the not-too-distant future.

Thank you to those on the Management Committee who have given countless hours to the cause. Ada, Angela, David, George, Julie, Kim, and Meg - all bona fide legends.

A massive thank you to the face of the pub: our utterly amazing staff. They can be really proud of themselves and all the hard work they've put in to make this happen. Genuinely the nicest bunch of people and an absolute joy to work alongside.

Thank you to all the volunteers who run our community space in the mornings, filling the building with joy and bringing warmth and togetherness to the town. Thank you so much to all the other volunteers who help around the building with maintenance, oddjobs, and just being all-round good eggs.

Today we’re giving away a pair of tickets each for Sally Magnusson and Larry Lamb!

- Renowned journalist, presenter and author, Sally Magnusson, will join us in the Festival Marquee on Saturday, 3rd October at 1.30pm to chat about The Shapeshifter’s Daughter, her latest novel – an electrifying reimagining of the Norse tale of Hel, queen of the underworld ⚔️

- Also in the Festival Marquee on Saturday, 3rd October, at 6pm, we’ll be treated to an audience with Larry Lamb. The Gavin and Stacey star will take us on a deeply personal poetic journey through the highs and lows of his oh-so-colourful life and career in theatre, film TV and writing ✍️
