Let's help natural plants which need no planting grow in our gardens and area's on our parks. These are great pollinators and each one is feeding something so let's help feed our bee's and insects 🐝🦋🐞🦗🦟😍

Eight plants that most gardens grow entirely on their own, without any encouragement. Each one is feeding something. 🌿

What gets pulled up without a second thought:

— Sweet violet: the sole larval host plant for several British fritillary butterflies, including the silver-washed fritillary
— Dandelion: the first reliable nectar of the year when almost nothing else is flowering
— Clover: fixes nitrogen in the soil and feeds bees from spring through to the first frosts
— Common chickweed: one of the earliest plants to flower at the end of winter, when pollinators have almost nothing else
— Wood sorrel: lemon-flavoured leaves that close at night, feeding butterflies through the season
— Selfheal: those low violet spikes in the lawn that bumblebees work steadily all summer
— Greater plantain: the broad rosette in every crack — edible, and used in traditional plant medicine for centuries
— Herb Robert: the pink-flowered crane's-bill that appears in every shady corner, feeding early pollinators and carrying a long history of folk use

Each one is doing a job. 🌱

What a lovely day to have a quick stroll from our office to our nature garden and to the lake, no ducks on there at the time but plenty dragonflies, butterflies and bees. It was lovely just to hear the sounds of nature. Wishing Sir David Attenborough a very happy 100th birthday. This legendary man has brought the natural world into our homes and inspired so many people to become a naturalist with his documentaries over the years and to help our wonderful wildlife to survive over the years to come 🎊🎂

We will be joining the No Mow May Movement again on certain areas of the park for nature. These areas are important for supporting and boosting wildlife. This will allow flowers like daisies, dandelions and clover to bloom. This provides a crucial source of nectar for bees, butterflies and other pollinators at a time when food is scarce 🦋🐝😍

Wishing all our owners and face book friends a very Happy May Bank Holiday. Good news our long awaited Gypsy Caravan is now sited in it's place on our play area. A massive thank you to John and Edward for siting this for us ready for the bank holiday. Also a massive thank you to Colin Salter who worked so hard doing the inside for the children to enjoy 😊❤

We want to give a massive thank you to everyone who could make our Sunday Easter event and who donated raffles prizes and brought and made cakes to raise funds for our chosen charity on the protection and research of the hooded vultures in Gambia. Also a even bigger thank you to Luce from Falconry Experience Wales who gave a very interesting speech why it is so important to protect these amazing birds. We also got to see Nakuru who is 5 years old and the largest Owl in Africa and the 4th largest in the world known as a Verreuux Eagle, with the wingspan of 5ft. We also got to see the beautiful Barn Owl Sabi who is 17 years old and the gorgeous Moggy who is a Southern White Faced Owl who will be 16 years old on the 21st June. The children and the adults got to handle her and a great time was had by all. With the coffee & cake sale, raffle and guess the name of the lamb we managed to raise an amazing amount of £233.00 for this worthy cause so thank you all so much. Sadly I found out today that only yesterday another 30+ vultures were pointlessly killed and the person has now been caught and will receive a prison sentence, so the importance of the tagging and protection is vital to help these beautiful birds survive.
