Hello everyone,
This is my story:
13 years ago this month, Mike and I went into newtown to find a nice cafe/restaurant
for breakfast. We visited Parkers and I thought to myself "I could do this".🫣 . So we put the wheels in motion & bought the building. Had a couple of teething problems to start off with; being a new boss in a catering business that I knew absolutely nothing about. Slowly but surely got the hang of it!
Our plan was always in place to make it a successful business with restaurant downstairs and a B&B upstairs where people can come for excellent customer service, good wholesome food & coffee in a nice clean resturant/B&B.
2018 we started the B&B major renovations 🫣😬 turning the old derelict crumbling rooms into 9 ensuite high end B&B rooms.
Got that up and running and to this day is very successful. I've maintained my 5-star hygiene rating for 13 years and thats an achievement in itself 🙂
Through my journey I have given my life to Parkers, day & night. I have had unbelievable hassle & hate from the general public to try to make customers sleep better at night to alter the town clock.
Forsaken my husband, children, grandchildren, my mum, dad, brother & sister for the greater good of Parkers.
Customers did not see me crying at a night because I took to much on, went into depression, had hissy fits and threw all my dishes everywhere because it was just to much.
Everything that's happened in Parkers, good or very bad, landed on my shoulders.
I've had amazing staff to whom I have thanked every single day for 13 years. My daughter Hannah has been my anchor, reining in my spending habits 😅.
Covid hit then everything everything took a different turn. Banks closed, rising parking charges, out of town cafe's popping up, where you can just drive & park. Utility bills, produce, minimum wage, the demise of the town centre etc etc these all factors make it more & more difficult to make a profit. I've truly tried to make this a success but the current economy has made it very difficult.
So, it's with a very very heavy heart 😭😭💔💔
the myself & the higher management have decided to call it a day. So were CLOSING PARKERS CAFE DOWN. I have only made it public to people visiting the restaurant, and not made it public because I cannot cope with the negativity that comes with local news running the story.
PARKERS B&B WILL REMAIN OPEN.
So I'd like to make a special thank you to all my staff for being so loyal & making it what Parkers is today. I'm so gonna miss our breakfast club. Thank you to all my special past & present customers whom I'm truly gonna miss. You came through Parkers doors & had laughs & tears.
Thank you to Hannah for all the work you've done, without you I'd be more crazier than I am now. You've been my rock.
So thank you all for the roller coaster ride.
Love to you all,
Tina 🥰
