When normality isn't the norm at our place.
Recently had 17 little chicks hatched.
Over the wkend Winifred finally hatched her eggs and another 5 gorgeous mixed coloured chicks

Problem is Winifred is A FECKING DUCK

It's gonna be a sweaty one next week.

Why not have a day visit here. Picnics bbq and games in the cooling woods.

Get your kiddies imaginations going.

All day 10am til Dusk £10 per adult. Childrenn free

7 more fluff balls born this morning.
That makes a total of 17 chicks in past 13 days.

One was touch and go at 6am, no strength and hardly breathing but a quick warm up with hairdryer and some sugar water and she's fighting fit

Introduce your family to nature, Have your little ones explore our woods in safety, build dens, get involved with feeding the ducks and chickens, collect eggs, hold baby chicks, they can even help me plant out in the veg compound or simply kick a ball around the field. What they do is up to them

Bring a picnic, bring a blanket or chairs, chill out whilst your little ones play and explore in our secure safe fenced off 5 acres.
Crafts and board games available in our 70s vintage caravan.

FREE use of charcoal bbq, just bring your food and we will fire it up for you to cook at leisure.

Let them get mucky, we have an outdoor hot shower.

10am til 9pm

Tuesday 5th we had 4
Friday 8th we now have 9 With 8 eggs still in the nest

NECKY NETTA hen is in another coop has been satt on 10 eggs for 3 wks so next week we expect more.

WINIFRED The Call Duck is nesting on 7 eggs so we are hoping to get some little quackery soon

New life

Ups and downs of Paddock Woods LN7
Sunday we lose Edna our original rescue chicken. Today we welcome 4 (so far) new arrivals. Updated pics and vids in a couple of days time

A Smallholding a Campsite a place to relax and a way of living. From Crack of dawn through to darkening Dusk tending to nature, be it flora or fauna, feeding watering and tending to its every need. Every day we welcome changes, the life emerging. The playful characteristic nature of our bird family and the oncoming of new ducks and chickens,
It's a hard life and a happy fulfilling life but alas also comes sadness.
This morning after a week of nursing and making her comfortable Edna our original rescue chicken sadly past away on my lap.
No matter how tough you think you are some things just smack you in the face.
Thankfully her last eggs are being tended to by one of the flock, so who knows in a couple of weeks we see new life again.

RIP Edna.
