We have reviewed the ongoing commentary relating to the recent incident and feel it is necessary to make one final statement.
Attached is video footage of the incident. The footage shows the events as they occurred and demonstrates that a number of statements made publicly about this matter are inaccurate.
As the only pub in the village and a local business that serves the wider community, we are extremely disappointed by the manner in which this discussion has unfolded. What began as an incident has escalated into widespread commentary that is personal, hostile, and in many cases entirely unrelated to the facts.
We are particularly concerned by the volume and tone of comments made anonymously. Allowing anonymous accounts to make serious allegations, speculate about individuals, and publish damaging statements about a local establishment creates an environment where misinformation and harassment can thrive without accountability.
Some comments have gone far beyond opinion, including unfounded allegations, speculation presented as fact, and remarks that are deeply inappropriate. This behaviour is unacceptable and causes real harm — not only to individuals, but also to a local business, its staff, and its reputation.
Since taking over The Poachers Pocket, we have invested significantly in refurbishing the pub, rooms, and facilities, and have worked hard to create a welcoming and inclusive environment. We have consistently listened to constructive feedback from local residents and made changes where appropriate.
We fully respect that people may hold different views. Constructive feedback is always welcome. Personal attacks, anonymous accusations, and harmful commentary are not.
For the avoidance of doubt, Oscar was secured on a lead within the boundary of our premises and did not enter a public area. The other dog involved was off the lead in a public area at the time of the incident and remained off the lead afterwards. This is clearly shown in the attached footage.
We now consider this matter closed on social media. Any further review will be handled through the appropriate authorities and channels.
