‼️Important Announcement‼️

We are very sad to say that Follyfoot Equestrian has an isolated case of Strangles in a new pony that arrived late on Tuesday 14th July. On arrival the pony was put into our isolation stables as part of our bio security protocol. On Wednesday 15th July early morning the pony showed clinical signs of being unwell and the vet attend immediately to treat and take swabs. The results confirm that the pony is positive for Strangles.

In line with our bio security policy and working closely with our vets, we have implemented the traffic light system, which means our livery yard is in lockdown for a minimum of 3 weeks.

Whilst our riding school ponies are not affected due to their location on site the riding school will be closed to the general public for the same period to reduce any potential spread.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause our customers, however it is essential that we ensure the livery yard horses are kept safe and well.

For those who have booked lessons or treks, we will be in touch with you over the next few days to organise refunds.

If anyone has any concerns please don’t hesitate to contact us or your veterinary practice.

PLEASE READ!
Due to confirmed cases of Strangles in the North Devon area Follyfoot Equestrian has increased its Bio Security measures to prevent infection and transmission from horses outside of our Riding School and Livery Yard. Strangles is a very contagious infection in horses and we must ensure our horses are protected.

Clients and visitors arriving at our premises will be asked to sanitise their hands and disinfect footwear (we have sanitiser and a foot wash installed). Anyone who has contact with any other horses outside of our Riding School and Livery Yard MUST arrive in clean washed clothing (including Jackets, coats and gloves) and adhere to our Bio Security measures.

Until further notice our arena will not be available to hire to anyone outside of Follyfoot Equestrian. We will continue business as usual with these new measures in place.

If anyone has any concerns or questions please get in contact with us. Whilst the risk of horses contracting strangles is small we want to ensure all our horses are safe so we can continue to provide you with the benefits they bring to you.
