🚨 Date change alert! 🚨 Our September pick is moving one day back to Sunday 20th!

This month, we've shifted our planned litter pick slightly to align with the Great Norwich Pick! This is itself part of World Cleanup Day — a perfect opportunity to take some action alongside literally thousands of other people across the globe.

There'll be plenty of litter picks to choose from (and why stop at one...), including with Friends of Wensum Park, Friends of West Earlham Woods, Wild Lakenham, Taverham & Drayton Litter Pickers, Project NR (No Rubbish), North Norfolk Wombles, and Wensum Riverkin. Huge thanks to Mile Cross Litterbusters for all their work to bring everyone together.

See you on the 20th?! We'll be starting at 10.30am as usual 💚

We're very happy to say that the brilliant John, Stuart, and Dan of the Norfolk Railway Heritage Group will be leading a walk from the former City Station as part of this year's Norfolk Heritage Open Days.

Tickets for Walking the Line (2pm on Sunday 20 September) go live tomorrow at 10am!

Starting as ever by the Barn Road entrance to Marriott’s Way at 10.30am. Equipment provided and everyone very welcome, for however long you can stay (we stop at 12.30!).

Carl led some brilliant walks for us around Train Wood. We’re thinking of him today 💚

All at NNNS are saddened to hear that Carl Chapman passed away on Friday. Carl made a massive contribution to the Society, as a Trustee, Chairman and through the creation of the Liaison Committee (which he also chaired)- a body that helped strengthen the links between NNNS and other local wildlife charities.

He was the Norfolk county recorder for cetaceans, writing an annual report in the Norfolk Bird & Mammal Report and publishing a detailed book on Norfolk's Whales and Whaling. https://norfolkcetaceans.wordpress.com/recent-sightings-3/

Many of you will also know him through his work as a wildlife tour guide, a role in which he excelled at not just showing people wildlife, but informing and enthusing them about it too. He was also an excellent wildlife photographer with a portfolio on Wildcatch Photography and was recently awarded the Sydney Long Medal, presented two-yearly by NWT and NNNS to those who have made an outstanding contribution to the conservation and understanding of Norfolk's wildlife.

Our condolences go out to his wife Tania, his family and his many friends.
