Behind the scenes, however, hospitality businesses across the UK are facing some of the toughest trading conditions in recent memory. Rising costs, higher taxes, increased employment expenses and ongoing economic pressures are putting enormous strain on pubs, restaurants, cafés and hotels nationwide.

That's why we're supporting the campaign, led by renowned chef and publican Tom Kerridge, which is calling for a reduction in hospitality VAT from 20% to 10%. The campaign highlights how the UK hospitality sector is taxed more heavily than many European countries, despite the vital role it plays in supporting local jobs, communities and high streets.

The reality is stark. Recent industry figures show that hospitality venues have been closing at an average rate of around two venues every day, and the sector is now more than 14% smaller than it was before the pandemic. More than 16,000 hospitality businesses have closed over the past five years.

Pubs like ours are more than just businesses, they're places where communities come together, friendships are made, milestones are celebrated, and memories are created.
