Due to the current Covid 19 crisis we are taking extra precautions to ensure all our guests safety. If you or anyone you are travelling with have any of the signs or symptoms of illness, particularly raised temperature or persistent cough, please do not travel and let us know. Similarly if you have come into contact with anyone who may be infected please take NHS advise and self isolate rather than travel. If in any doubt please seek NHS advice and consider not travelling. We have a responsibility to protect all our customers so if you become unwell whilst staying in The Woodpecker Snug please do also let us know.
During this time and to allow for more rigorous cleaning and ventilating or the property we will unfortunately not be able to be flexible with the check in (4pm) & check out (11am) times.

The Woodpecker Snug is closed..... we are missing all our customers however only key workers can stay, quiet rightly so. During this time to keep busy and keep my mind off family who are far away I have turned to the main house to decorate (much to my husbands annoyance!), getting creative! He has made me shelves and much more! Hallway stairs and landing done. ✅ It’s fresh, lighter and more inviting! We have painted the ceiling beams white and made a wooden shelving unit to fill a space which was being used as a teenager dumping station! Lamp concrete apple and pear silk drumshade wallpaper accessories on shelves and relax! @ The Woodpecker Snug

2 miles away from the NHS Queens Medical Centre we run an Airbnb, The Woodpecker Snug (Separate from the main house).
During these coming months our NHS workers are saving our loved ones lives with huge pressures, working long shifts. We would like to welcome (FOC) NHS workers who may need to isolate from their own families or just need to get their head down quickly in a quiet, comfortable bed after a long shift. We are awaiting a call from the NHS in Nottingham so that we can make this happen.

The Woodpecker Snug is just a short nip into Nottingham (approx 2 miles) and what comes with being so close to a city is the wonderful array of arts and city attractions. Spent a beautiful afternoon yesterday sipping champagne and decorating vintage plates . Beautiful cake, lovely atmosphere and lots of other creative bits to choose from. Will be heading back for some festive wreath making I fancy!

What are we? We are a family run in a beautiful residential suburb in .... it is a one bedroom self contained annexe so attracts business guests, guests visiting family, competitive sports guests and just general leisure seekers from all over the world! We started running this small business three years ago now, not expecting the success and satisfaction it has given. Customers LOVE the design - cosy, quiet, secluded environment yet so close to many attractions. In 2017 we had a guest review score over 9.8, pleased we have maintained this high standard and guests keep coming back and loving what we do!

New bathroom.... new bedroom..... calm/ bright yet cosy in the main house which neighbours - Not finished yet.... no blinds - these are much needed now as we have a stained glass window in the bedroom which doesn’t keep the draft out! ☹️ that said I am still enjoying getting into bed nice and early enjoying the calm ambience

Main house bathroom ‘We 💕 you’ - when I brought tiles one metre twenty in length I was not a popular wife! Feature wall hosts small tiles back dropping the marble - then the rest of the bathroom was the massive tiles!!!! Storage was key and the movement of an internal wall has allowed for a wet room shower - sleek lines and no shower cubicle (A personal dislike of mine!) Every day I walk in and think I am in a hotel! Well it is finished! Mirrors up, loo plumbed.... loving my marble top! Thanks Its’s only taken The Matthews three months! We have renovated a whole house quicker than this! Our marriage has been tested - yet again! 😇

So the new en-suite/ bedroom is almost done! My choice of tiles at 1.2 metre in length didn’t go down well with the tile...
