The 13th-century castle on the island of Lismore is called Castle Coeffin.
It’s a dramatic ruined castle on the northwest coast of Lismore, built most likely by the MacDougalls of Lorn in the 1200s, possibly on the site of an older Viking fort.
It’s one of the most atmospheric spots on the island - perched on a rocky promontory with huge views across Loch Linnhe towards Morvern and Glensanda. There are also legends tied to it, including stories of a Viking princess haunting the ruins.
If you’re heading there, the walk out to the ruins is part of the experience and the roads are super safe for wee explorers on bikes…
