Did you know that this Saturday is ?

If you've visited Kilmartin Museum (just a short drive down the road from us), you may have spotted Kilmartin Glen Spirits

It was created by Louise and Greig MacPhail, whose family has lived in the village for more than 100 years, and uses botanicals gathered from around the Glen itself. One thing we particularly love about it is that the bottle design is inspired by the ancient rock art found around Kilmartin Glen.

What a great wee story from a hyper-local Argyll business!

This secret wild swimming spot just 30-minutes south of Oban is located at the end of Loch Melfort Hotel's path.

In these clips, local Scotland swim guide, Dan the Merman, took one of the hotel guests out for a wild swimming lesson - however, residents and non-residents alike can visit for a paddle without a lesson.

Many grab the opportunity to go for a quick dip in this hidden gem before heading up to the hotel deck for lunch.

One of the perks of staying with us? Sometimes you get a little more than breakfast. ☕️

Recently, our German guests were treated to a scone-making demonstration from the kitchen team, complete with a few tips on how to get them just right.

Not a bad view for a baking lesson, either.

A little Monday afternoon temptation from our pastry chef David 🍓

One of his new summer desserts: almond financier, compressed strawberry, clotted cream and elderflower.

One of our favourite things about the longer nights in Scotland during spring/summer? Finishing dinner and still having time to head back to your room to enjoy the Argyll sunsets!

If you're driving from Glasgow to Oban, you've probably passed this spot without realising it.

Loch Melfort Hotel sits on the A816 coastal route, around 25-30 minutes south of Oban, with views across the sea towards the islands of the Inner Hebrides.

While it's well signposted, the views from the road are blocked by the treeline. It's one of the most scenic stretches of road on Scotland's west coast, yet many travellers head straight for Oban and never stop.

Even if you're not staying overnight, it's worth knowing about. The hotel has a restaurant and bar overlooking the sea, making it a great place to break up the journey for lunch, coffee or dinner while exploring Argyll.

Save this for your next west coast road trip across Argyll, Scotland.

Sometimes our hotel guests get lucky and show up on the first or third Friday of the month, when we invite local musicians to come and entertain everyone with traditional music and song from Scotland.
