We're heading south from Melfort for a wee road trip through some of our favourite corners of Mid Argyll. No timetable, just beautiful scenery and a little exploring!

Every good adventure needs supplies! Stop at the brilliant for coffee, snacks or picnic goodies.

📸 Chapter 2 – Craignish Peninsula
Take the scenic detour towards Craignish Point for spectacular coastal views. Bring your camera, and perhaps your walking shoes!

🪨 Chapter 3 – Kilmartin Glen
Step back thousands of years with a visit to Nether Largie Standing Stones or Temple Wood Stone Circle. There's no need to explore the entire glen in one day!

Pretty harbour views, boats navigating the locks and a lovely wander along the Crinan Canal.

This looks like a fun activity if the weather gets a bit damp ☔️. Pop along to Kilmartin Museum and join the hunt!

There are 10 spooky ducks hiding around Kilmartin Museum this October, and we need your help to find them! 🦆🎃

Our Halloween trail is back, with a little mystery for our younger visitors to solve.

As you explore the Museum, keep an eye out for 10 hidden ducks, each with a letter to collect. Find them all, unscramble the letters and see if you can work out the magic word!

There are also some extra activities on the back of your trail sheet to take home, plus a special sticker for everyone who completes the challenge.

But when the ever-changing Argyll weather rewards you with a double rainbow over Oban Bay, suddenly you don't mind the rain quite so much!

🛶 Feature Friday – A wee island adventure on Easdale!

Sometimes the best adventures start with the shortest ferry crossings!

Just a little boat ride from Ellenabeich on the Isle of Seil takes you to Easdale Island, a tiny, car-free island with a fascinating history and plenty to discover.

And one of the first things you'll notice when you step off the ferry is a collection of numbered wheelbarrows! 🛒 With no cars on the island, each household has its own wheelbarrow for transporting shopping and supplies home from the ferry. A lovely little glimpse into everyday island life.

Easdale is one of the famous Slate Islands, once known as “the islands that roofed the world”, thanks to the slate quarried here and shipped far beyond Argyll. Today, it's a wonderful place to spend a few hours wandering. Explore the little paths, discover the old quarry pools, admire the traditional cottages and see what reminders of its industrial past you can spot along the way.

🪨 Travelling with children? Bring your best stone-skimming technique! Easdale is home to the World Stone Skimming Championships, although we're fairly sure the kids will be happy just trying to beat Mum and Dad!

There's also the Easdale Island Folk Museum, where you can learn more about the people who lived and worked on this remarkable little island.

And when you've finished exploring, hop back across to Ellenabeich, where the Oyster Bar is a lovely spot for lunch or a drink overlooking the water.

💚 Our tip: Allow yourself plenty of time to wander. Easdale is one of those places where the joy is simply in exploring, with no particular destination in mind.

A cosy window seat, a good book and absolutely nowhere you need to be. 📖

Sometimes the best holiday moments aren't the big adventures or the days out.

They're the quiet mornings, the unhurried afternoons and those little pockets of time when you can simply switch off.

And at Melfort, we think there's something rather special about doing absolutely nothing. 💚
