Tiree's Machair is incredibly important with its own environmental designations and is at high risk from damage and erosion. When visiting please do not go off road onto the Crofter's tracks or park out-with the designated car parks. Many tracks are only suitable for the Crofter's 4x 4s and farm machinery and driving to avoided the deep bits causes more erosion. Instead please adhere to the signage, use the designated car parks to access the beaches and help keep Tiree special.

With the beaches getting busier the team carried out some incident prevention patrols, giving out water safty advice to members of the public.

🏖 Make sure you have checked the tide and weather conditions before you set out.
🏖 If you are using inflatables ensure that they are fit for the ocean and have all necessary equipment to keep yourself safe.
🏖 Always wear a life jacket or buoyancy aid
🏖 Check the wind direction inflatables are very easily blown away from the beach quickly especially in an offshore wind.
🏖 Ensure you are beach ready with sunscreen, water and anything else that will help protect you in the heat.

If you see someone in difficulty at the coast ☎️ 9️⃣9️⃣9️⃣ and ask for Coastgaurd 🌊 🆘 🚨
