Take your seat!
Just 2 shots from last Sunday when we were up the eastern mamores from Kinlochleven. The bench itself would make a nice walking loop up grey mares tail. See new (free!) app for a description.

What’s this for? I’m in Austria in self catering and stared and poked at this for a while to work out what it is.

Would love to see your guesses. It’s been quite a fun quiz with some of my friends to work it out 😍.

Adventuring from home always seems extra special without a car.
Yesterday morning I walked to the village and caught the train at 9.20 just one stop down the line to Falls of Cruachan. From there I walked up the Munro Ben Cruachan, then onto Taynuilt Peak and down to Bridge of Awe and back home.
Definitely an adventurous route coming down, but plenty of other options possible.
Take the train (or bus - they’re only £2 per journey this year) to Falls of Cruachan, follow the walkhighlands route to the dam and walk back down the dam road to St Conan’s Kirk, its cafe, and the train (or bus) back from Lochawe.

A baby owl- can anyone confirm what type of owl?
Exposed and lonely?
A local called us at finding this baby owl down the back track and how exposed it is to predators and dogs - many people walk their dogs here. So we stood nearby but hopefully not alarming the parents (we didn’t see them but they would have been near).
Eventually it moved into the side where it was far more camouflaged, so we left it. And a few hours later it was gone (no feathers !)

Who has been to Corachie Clematis cafe? A real treat to look forward to on your next visit.
They have a large open space cafe, but also these tables amongst the polytunnels to be surrounded by a riot of flower colour. Of course also tables outside for when the sunny weather arrives this weekend.

Who else has visited the most remote pub in the UK? I managed a day trip yesterday by catching the morning ferry; cycling in and walking up a munro; with time to spare for tea outside the Old Forge Community Inn before the ferry back to Mallaig.
