For us, it looks a little like this. Washing on the line, a cottage door left open to the sunshine, muddy boots by the step and the feeling that, for a little while, you belong here.

Our traditional cottages see generation after generation of families coming to enjoy time in nature - remeniscing on first visits and creating first time memories, and all the while growing our Ardtornish family.

Ardtornish Farm cattle live a good life, with – as you can see – even better views over the Sound of Mull.

Our cattle are free to roam across the hillsides with their 'no fence' collars. They’re also responsible for producing rather good beef, which we’re proud to serve at The Coal Shed Cafe (have you tried a sausage roll yet?) and in our homemade ready meals at The Old Dairy Gift Shop.

So, while this particular herd may look like they’re simply enjoying a peaceful afternoon with one of the best views in Morvern, they’re also quietly doing their bit for the estate-to-plate journey and contributing towards a sustainable food offering for our guests and community 🤍

It’s a tough job, but someone’s got to graze somewhere this beautiful🐂

Autumn is on its way, and we’ve been busy behind the scenes putting together something rather special for November.

A guest’s-eye view of Ardtornish’s wildlife 🌿🦋

One of our recent guests, Ian, spent some of his time at Ardtornish exploring the local wildlife — and very kindly shared the results of his moth trapping with us.

His iNaturalist observations make for a fascinating glimpse into some of the species that can be found here.

We love seeing guests discovering Ardtornish in their own way — and especially when they share what they find along the way🐛🌱
