Oyster Lady supports Oban lifeboat

All the money that goes into an Argyll roadside honesty box to pay for fresh oysters will this weekend be donated to support the work of Oban RNLI.

Judith MacDougall Vajk and her husband Hugo set up the Caledonian Oyster Company after they took over a farm growing Pacific and native oysters in Loch Creran in 1995.

Judith says the lifeboat offers an essential emergency service for everyone who lives, works and plays on the sea and seashore:

โ€œThe lifeboat volunteers do a fantastic job. They go out whatever the weather without question.

โ€œMy husband Hugo died in Loch Creran a few years ago and the RNLI looked after him.

โ€œI have particular reason to appreciate the work the Oban lifeboat does, and I started fundraising one weekend a year to say thank you.โ€

Proceeds from oyster sales and any donations placed in the honesty box beside the Benderloch to Barcaldine road this Saturday and Sunday (27 and 28 May) will be donated to Oban RNLI.

Congratulations Gary Innes - such a successful night with loads & loads of fun had by all that made it to Hoolie in the Hydro! ๐ŸŽค๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ•บ๐Ÿป๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿช— Bring on Hoolie 2023! ๐Ÿซถ

โค๏ธ Iโ€™m not sure where to start โค๏ธ

Thank you, thank you, thank you, to each and every one of you that bought and believed in Hoolie in the Hydro. You said youโ€™d come, and you did, and for that Iโ€™ll be eternally grateful.

Last night was just incredible. To watch thousands and thousands of you dancing and going wild for traditional music in our countries largest arena, was something I think every musician that took to the stage will remember forever.

A massive thank you goes out to all the bands and musicians that agreed to be part of the event and to Innes & Campbell Communications for their PR support throughout. Three months ago the incredible Freya Craig came to work alongside me full time on Hoolie and she has been a god send, and I wish Freya the very best of luck as she now moves on to work for the Glasgow Film Festival.

I must also thank all our team. Presenters Anne MacAlpine & Jim Smith, Alex McNutt & Kev Oโ€™Neill on sound, Gary Ebdy on lights and visuals, and to all the camera operators, stage crew, production and comms and a special mention to production manager Paul Hoolihan for his amazing work and to Sue, Katy, Gemma and Chris at the venue for the last year who have helped make the event possible.

And lastly to all our sponsors, Ferguson Transport, Bรฒrd na Gร idhlig, Culachy Estate - Grassie family, Gordon Duncan Memorial Trust, Mowi and Glasgow Warriors.

Hoolie has taken up an extraordinary amount of time over the past 12 months between everything else that I do, and I literally could not have done it without the support and encouragement from my ever patient wife, Hannah, and a big thanks to our daughters, Gracie and Margot too for being the little stars that you are.

Lots of you are asking, will there be a Hoolie 2023? Hoolie in the Hydro only came to fruition because you all said you wanted it to happen and make history. So the question I put to you once again is, do you want it to happen again? Or do we just say, F@ it. Hoolie at Hampden ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Thank you all so much once again. ###
